xxmass
Were the L4 series carbs mounted with both of the fuel bowls on the inside? carb fuel bowl ----- fuel bowl carb Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I think it was.... fuel bowl carb linkage linkage carb fuel bowl. Here's my L18SSS (or maybe late L16SSS) Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
I believe the Roadster SUs were... fuel bowl, carb, linkage, fuel bowl, carb, linkage. Maybe someone can verify. Quote Link to comment

72240z
I like the bowls on the inside, it looks cleaner and neater to me. Quote Link to comment
rpowell25
Yeah, its linkage, carb, bowl, bowl. carb, linkage. Quote Link to comment
bilzbobaggins
anyone tell from this awful pic which carbs I have? Its an L4 mani thats in at 1 1/2 inches on the head side.. thanks Jeff Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
L4 means inline 4. Could be any four-cylinder engine. Early L16/L18 four cylinder engine usually has manifold with cast marks 220. Newer L16/L18 has the K14 manifold. L20B didn't have a twin carb manifold. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
I like the bowls on the inside, it looks cleaner and neater to me. i agree it looks cleaner but they probably put them on the outside cause the l series runs the exhaust right where the bowls would be just a theory no idea why they actually changed it around Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
I believe the Roadster SUs were... fuel bowl, carb, linkage, fuel bowl, carb, linkage. Maybe someone can verify. True of 1600 Roadsters and RL411 sedans. Quote Link to comment
BillM
Hall Monitor Those liik like common HS4 carbs like on an MGB. They could be HIF4's but I don't think so. Would need a picture without the air cleaners to be sure. BillM Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
xxmass has not posted a pic of his carburetors yet Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Typical JDM L18 SUs. Both sets I have are like that. My 1600 Roadster is Bowl-Carb-linkage Bowl-Carb-Linkage. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I can see the Hitachi logo on top of the fuel bowl. They are not S.U. carburetors, but genuine SU-style Hitachi carbs. The manifold is for a Roadster. Quote Link to comment
xxmass
well, poop! does the roadster manifold fit the L series head? thanks for the attention to this thread. Quote Link to comment
aintnobiscuit
off topic, but as a software engineer when i saw "su identity" i was like wtf? su = switch user in linux. It allows you to assume the identity of another user on the system. carry on Quote Link to comment
