  2. You pay shipping but otherwise free
  3. Got these with a parts truck but can't figure out how to put them on properly. They go on the inner wheel ring but not tight Billm

    Exhaust question

On my 85 720 pickup the head pipe blew thru. When I pulled it off to get welded up I found that it has what appears to be a ceramic coating which I had to grind off to allow for welding. Is the coating a factory standard or an the victim of a cruel joke? That coating is a bear to remove!!

    Clunking while driving

Well, it seems to be fixed! Greased all of the fittings on the front suspension and magically all of the squeeking and clunking stopped. I'm guessing that the truck hadn't been greased for about 30 years from the condition of the plugs hiding the greasing holes but it now drives as nice and quietly as a new truck. Billm

    Clunking while driving

Well-I pulled the bed off of it today and drove around a bit. Totally quiet, no creaking. Put the bed back on and creaking started again. I'm guessing that it is the pads creaking. I think that I will make up some new pads and see if I can make it quiet. Bill

    Clunking while driving

I'll check it out in the morning Thanks for the suggestions Bill
  9. Occasional clunking while driving. Coming from just behind cab. I've changed out the driveshaft and greased the rear spring bushings. Sounds like a 12" steel bar banging around, can't find anything loose underneath. Any ideas? Bill

  11. I just ordered a new radiator for my 86 720 truck. What came did not fit. Now I realize that I should have ordered one for an 85 truck, not an 86. What they sent me appears to be for an 86.5 (same as D21). I have now ordered an 85 and hope that it fits. Billm

    720 vacuum switch

That generic switch works great. Took a bit of trial and error to fine tune it but now works. Billm

    720 vacuum switch

I just ordered a generic adjustable vacuum operated switch from Amazon to see if it will work. It is adjustable from 0 to 90 kpa so it should work, we'll see Bill
