I don't think diameter is the concern? It looks like the caliper sticks out farther than the hub face? Some wheels are shaped on the back side in such a way that the "spoke" section will hit that caliper. Had this problem myself running 4-pistons before.

Yup!

Don't know if it matters but on the last car I did this on, I just fitted longer studs and some thin spacers to fit up +30 wheels. This cleared the calipers well.

But careful shopping may net some wheels that clear without spacers. Good luck!  :thumbup:

They barely fit with 1 washer and 1 spring washer giving a total clearance of 5mm so that the caliber wont hit the rim.

And don't worry.. These aren't going to be my final rims!  :rofl: Just something that I can test the car with

Yo, just to make this thread alive, I liked to share some information that I'm currently doing some bodywork to my ratsun. And I found a sweet muffler, I will post more pictures when I'm ready with welding.

If you ground the wheel hub flange by hand to make clearance for the caliper, you for sure will have a vibration. Can't tell if you machined it.

We'll see, i tried to make it as best as I could, didn't put it in a lathe, hand work only

I think you'd be fine. Just establish your arc and weld puddle on the thick flange and go from there. Nice thing about tig is you can do it slowly and ease up on the amps

*sigh* just maybe I give it another go when I get my hands on that..  :angel:

So... I have been playing with some gear ratios and stuff... It seems like I'll be using the stock tranny, but then again I need to swap the diff for speed. My main issue is that I'm worried when the turbo is going to spool and how far I can push it.

This is the site I have been using:

http://www.kabamus.com/garage/gears.html

and playing with toyota rear axels

F462 = 2.92
F392 = 3.15
F012 = 3.30
F382 = 3.41
F372 = 3.58
F302 = 3.73

and here are the tranny ratios:  4th       3rd        2nd       1st            Rev

60L 4-speed                            1.000    1.378    2.170    3.513        3.764

So with tire width 190mm, aspect ratio: 25%, rim dia 16'', tranny gear 1 and diff final 3.1

Engine Speed (RPM)Speed (MPH)

8000    153.06

7500    143.50

7000    133.93

6500    124.37

6000    114.80

5500    105.23

5000    95.67

4500    86.10

4000    76.53

3500    66.97

3000    57.40

2500    47.83

2000    38.27

1500    28.70

1000    19.13

I have to balance nicely between RPM and speed... So I have to find perfect tires and axel at the same time :I I guess the turbo will start spooling after 3000 RPM
