nismosilvia
More quenching head, Hm so its the better head? I think its harder to turbo the first gen 810 because the circulating ball steering setup. I don't think its a bolt on swap. Quote Link to comment

yenpit
Did they make manual trans 810's? If not, what clutch pedal assy can be used? Anybody on Ratsun done it? I assume the ZX 5spd would bolt right up, but would require a driveshaft mod........ Wow, nice Wagon! Quote Link to comment
Z-train
Yes,they did.One would think that Z pedals would be a bolt in.They are not.810 pedals are all to themselves. However Z pedals can be made to work.I have it done as i'm about to do a auto/stick swap. The auto brake pedal is re-used,so all you need is a Z clutch pedal. The only thing i haven't scienced out yet is the mounting location for the return spring. yenpit
Hey Z, when I do a 510 auto-to-manual swap, the clutch pedal pivot point is already there, so the pedal bolts right in (sounds like the 810 is the same way??). Instead of swapping out the whole pedal box assy, I carefully cut the clutch return spring mounting L-bracket off of the donor box assy, and carefully weld it to the existing box assy, in the correct place. Gotta be really careful that you don't zap any under dash wiring, but it works out great! Quote Link to comment

I think its harder to turbo the first gen 810 because the circulating ball steering setup. I don't think its a bolt on swap. Its got bigger exhaust ports a few guys out on HybridZ like that head there really isn't a better head basically any head can be modified, port matched better cam, springs, & lifters. My 81 280zx has a L28ET swap with the stock circulating ball steering I just had to cut a tiny corner off the wastegate bracket. I'll take some pics so you can see, there's also a write up on the Internet I just followed most of that and HybridZ. Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
810 4 speed manuals are pretty rare ive seen mostly autos and not long ago a junkyard had a 810 wagon that was a manual and got crushed. Quote Link to comment

yenpit
Sounds like the clutch pedal is a great part to pull off of any 810 parts cars............ Quote Link to comment

How's the rust on that wagon you plan on scrapping? I may be wanting some sheet metal before it goes to that big pull a part in the sky. Quote Link to comment

ArchetypeDatsun
Do you ever try to sell them or sell what's left of them I see one on craigslist but it has a front end damage but doesn't look too bad where it can't be fixed and it starts and runs. Quote Link to comment

Z-train
Looks are deceiving. Most of that paint came off with a power washer. It has close to 300K on it.And a lot of the good parts(mechanical are going on the blue car. Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
Just spotted this 78 wagon but the price is way to high! Usually I see 810 wagons go for $400-$1000 in much better condition than this one, this is the second most expensive one I've seen. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/cto/3419486950.html Quote Link to comment
bloodontheapex
Bill, your second parts car looks just like mine, minus the headlights. Maroon interior as well? I didn't think I'd like slot mags on an 810 wagon, but I think that looks pretty good. I may pick up a set, they're cheap. What are you 810 guys doing for strut inserts? I believe they are NLA from about everyone. Quote Link to comment
Z-train
280-he's smoking his lunch. And besides, with a newborn the last thing you want is airbags. Struts-nothing right now.But i'm working on something. Quote Link to comment
