I think I would hit it with rubbing compound or TR3 polish to take the extra roughness out of the rust but it will smoothin it out. \Pain the rims white and roll it. Leaving the Patina as is.

clean the inside and maybe hit it will soem FLEX SEAL that they advertise on TV

I would just get soem Belltech Blocks pn 6202 3in with 2deg

and crank on the torsion bar thats it if you live on bad roads

ya i already have 3 inch blocks and the torsion bars cranked.. you must have missed that part. and i will not be doing anything to the exterior for quite sometime and probably not the interior either. this is my daily driver so i can't do too much with it. i can go a few days without a car and ride my bicycle when need be. other than that its going to be pretty much the way you see it, hopefully just a lot lower soon.

little update on what i got done today. i woke up this morning and looked outside and saw the sun shining so i ran out and starting tearing down the truck right away. i got my carb off, intake manifold off, and the exhaust manifold off as well. i got the intake manifold soaking in some cleaner right now and i am going at it every hour or so with a brush and cleaning it all up nice. i'll post pics of it when its all cleaned up and lookin brandy new. kinda kicking myself cuz i wanted to take a before and after pic but i forgot the before  . anyways, i'll be fabbing up the new exhaust in the next couple days or so. waiting on the new carb set up in the mail still but will have everything assembled and waiting by the time it comes. im going to take the valve cover off in a little bit and mess around with that later as well. some pics so far. more to come.

You may know this already, but this is how to put the manifolds on, after all the gasket surfaces are clean.

Put the three exhaust manifold studs back in the head. One on each end, one above the two exhaust ports right in the middle.

Put the gasket on the exhaust studs.

Put the exhaust manifold on, snug the three exhaust manifold nuts that are on the studs in the head. Do not forget the lifting ring on the back exhaust manifold stud.

Put the four bottom bolts, with the thick washers, in the four lower holes, between the exhaust and intake manifolds. Just start the bolts, and then pull the thick washers away from the cylinder head.

With the top of the intake manifold tipped away from the head, carefully slide the bottom of the intake manifold between the thick washers, and the head. Then tip the top of the manifold to the head, and put the four top intake manifold bolts in, loosely.

You will need a universal joint, and a 12 MM socket to reach the two lower bolts that bridge the intake and exhaust manifold, closest to the center. Torque the three exhaust manifold nuts to 9 to 12 FT-LBS, Torque the eight bolts to 11-18 FT-LBS.

got the intake all cleaned up as much as i could gonna run it through the juice one more time and then go at the inside with a dremel and just smooth some stuff out and open it up a little bit.. im going to wait to do this until i get my new gasket but that wont be for a couple days.

Place the gasket on the intake. Use the studs to help line it up straight. Spray paint the head side of the intake and let dry. Dremel away any red paint showing as a ring around the intake port rim. The manifold is now port matched to the gasket. Now do the same with the head. When done the intake will perfectly line up with the ports in the head. Stock manifolds are often smaller than the ports in the head or the core has shifted when casting. Doing this port matching will assure that there is no rim or edge sticking out.

To keep chips out of the head, stuff an oily rag into the port.

made a little progress today.. the sand blasting cabinet that is at the shop is missing a few fittings so i had to drive to the cape and i gave the manifold to my friend and he did it on his lunch break and gave it back to me.. came out great! i took the valve cover off and cleaned and stripped and scuffed it all up. i put one coat of paint on and didn't get to finish it. i'll be finishing the paint on it tomorrow and i got an idea up my sleeve about the exhaust manifold so we'll see how that comes out tomorrow. still waiting on the gasket for the intake/exhaust so i can do some more work on the intake, also still waiting for the carb. hopefully i'll have my truck back and running by the weekend because i got to go to new york and would love to drive the 521 there. now on to some pics!

its not a bad drive, a little over 3 hours. and the 521 runs mint and has low mileage so im not worried about it making it there i just dont know if i will have all the parts needed and it back together by tomorrow. fingers crossed that my carb comes in the mail today because i have everything else. i didn't end up find a L20 intake mani so im going with mine for now, just cleaning it all up and smoothin out some places inside, a mild port if you will. if the carb comes today i'll be at the house putting in work all day, still have to put everything back together and a few other odds and ends that i been doing since the trucks been sitting. even if the carb isn't here today i plan to put mostly everything back together. hopefully i'll have more pictures up later today/tonght

If you have a L16 intake that is most wanted anyway. I dont know why you want a L2o intake , yes they bigger but you could hog the L16 one out anyway. also the top part were the carb sites on. The l20 one the pvc set hook up will be wrong. I assume you still have the L16 PVC hose and stuff so just use that.

and if you have a L16 head its a small port is it matches.

If bigger port head than hog out the L16 intake to match thats it.

ya i already stated that i'll be keeping my L16 manifold or at least i thought i did. i took a dremel to it and cleaned out some rough edges and what not and cleaned it all up and painted it. got my carb today. but didnt get it til about 5-6 and it was already getting dark at that point. i got a few things done today but should be driving the truck by tomorrow im hoping. will post pics of the intake, new painted valve cover, exhaust mani, and new carb tomorrow.. stay tuned
