flatcat19
Man, oh man. It has been one hell of a weekend. And the last few months have been almost as nerve-racking. So I sold the green machine about a month and a half ago. It sucked watching the above scene take place-but it went to the right guy. He loves the truck. Been driving it daily. Neither of us could be any happier in that fact. I miss it. But The Green Machine is in good hands. But why did I sell my Datsun? Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
But why did I sell my Datsun? Because you dont think straight and your still wet behind the ears i dont know why. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Because you dont think straight and your still wet behind the ears i dont know why. Almost. Back in June, my little sister came over to my house. Most know of my sister-or at least her truck. Her and I were talking Datsun's. I make the mention that I would love to own her truck. She says she'll sell it to me for a smoking deal. I had a CL ad for the Green Machine posted that night. I wait. And wait. And wait. And... Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
So now that I have the moniez from Green Machine in my pocket, time to raise the rest of my funds. My garage got cleaned, and I liquidated what I could to get the rest of the money. Thanks to a handful of Ratsun members my new Datto fund had been secured. Now to make the road trip to Portland to get it. One thing led to another, and every weekend for a month added a new road block prohibiting me from going to Portland. *Having to work Saturdays. *Family being sick. *Looking at houses. Anyways...after putting off the voyage for long enough, we made the 220 mile trek this weekend. As of 1:00PM on Saturday, September 8th-I am able to drop my Mater status! I introduce to you, Joseph Palasky. 1971 Datsun PL521. 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Now- Some of you recognize the truck. Others don't. This truck does have Ratsun history. fiveNdime made this truck what it is so far. You can see what he has done here. Also, a good share of the pictures I have posted here are pictures from his thread. So with that-I post more of his pics. So with what I can see... Z22 block. A87 head. A set of Roadster SU's. 5 speed. Now, I have no way to verify this...but I have been given a bit more information from a very reliable source about this motor. That said "source" has told me multiple times...Rebello-built. Forged pistons. Worked peanut head. Big, lumpy cam. And from driving the thing, I believe it. This thing is fast. At least for a Datsun 4 banger. Smoking Honda's on the freeway is always fun. But when you do it in a 42 year-old truck... :w00t: Honda pulls next to me on 26W yesterday. Looks at me. Jumps his throttle. Just as I heard him blip, I downshifted to 4th and stood on the pedal. Bye der! Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Thanks guys. I've driven this thing 2 times before. It was a blast then-and now that I possess the title, it was a fucking riot! This thing fucking scoots! Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
That truck is looking sweet! Interior and bay oics? Nothing to exciting aboot the interior. Toyota seat. Short shifter...not short throw. It does have a new deck with an AUX input, Alpine 5" in the doors and some 6x9"s in the back with an amp. Haven't had time to really get to intimate with the truck yet. Quote Link to comment
Draker
I don't want to bring up a sore subject but... What's the deets in the breakdown issues? Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
So why am I not posting any of my own pictures? Well, I just really didn't have a free moment. Right after I picked the truck up I just went for an all-out joy ride. Me mobbing the 521; Wife following, closely, in the Maxima. Good times. After a few hours, we went and checked in to our hotel. Parked both cars right in front of the door. Got our keys. Transferred kids/luggage to our room. Put our feet up. All is well. For now. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Wife puts together a list of things we need from the store. I dig out the camera, thinking of a few prime spots to take some pictures. List in hand, keys in the other; I make my way to the truck. Key in ignition...click. Click. Click, click, click. Fuck! uberkevin
Annnnnnd thaaaan! Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I send out a quick text to NismoDr. asking if he has a spare starter. He says I can have the starter from his Z car, and that he'll be over in a bit. This picture came through to my phone, telling me the Dr. was in the house. So I remove the starter-test it with my Power Probe-verified bad starter. Apply the Power Probe to his Z starter-good. So I commence with the install. Turn the key. Click. Click. Click. Fuck. wayno
At least he didn't tell us that someone stole it, YET. Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
your sister has great taste that truck looks awsome from front to back and the rims look fantastic and fit even fantasticker nice truck keep it nice and more pics just push start it DONE Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I figured I ran the battery low using my Power Probe to bench test the starters. So we swap Ed's battery into my truck. Rumble-rumble-rumble. SWEEEEET! We decide to swap the battery back, and just push start the 521 to get the system charging the battery. Jumped to life like a champ....for about 20 feet. Car sputters. Lights on on the dash. Slowly rolls to a halt. FUCK! We push it back, and decide alternator jumped ship. Quote Link to comment
