can someone tell me the differences between the styles?

I think I understand the Bosozoku are typically the elongated noses with the crazy pipes and widebody

but I'm not familiar with what makes the rest of them those particular names...

bozozoku - typically wide body, large nose wings, shark style hood

Bippu - VIP?

Those are correct.

Kyusha - basically means (usually customized) vintage car

Shakotan - basically means really low car

Zokusha - Is similar to "Kaido Racer" style (http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/10/70s-street-fighter-imai-works-datsun-260z/)

Some of these terms seem "redundant", and that's mostly because one car can fit in multiple categories, so...

So you don't fit in a Datsun but want to buy a bug......

Germans are big people. Japanese are not. My jetta looked small, but I had 2" of headroom. I've sat in a bug and fit perfectly. Tried at jccs with a 240z and I could sit in with my head touching the roof, but I couldn't get my knees under that steering wheel

when I search "kaido racer" I get a fistful of what I thought were bozozoku cars....

Oddly, for some reason you can't just Google image search "kaido racer". It comes up with maybe 3 cars worthy of the title on the first 10+ pages...

It's kinda like... Cars that look like race cars but may not actually ever be raced. The styling is common among freeway racers in Japan though...
