I don't have the opportunity to remove the gauge cluster just yet to visually confirm the type of bulb, as it is my daily driver. Can anyone who has performed this swap confirm if the bulbs are in fact Wedge Base bulbs or BA9's (I'm guessing Wedge Base due to the fact that the Idiot Gauge bulb item 4 is a Wedge Base but want to confirm)? Additionally, the How-To says that you only need 1 green bulb for item 2 (Turn Signal Lights), but I want to confirm if you only need the 1 because it does both the left turn indicator and the right indicator, or if you actually need 2 separate bulbs (one for left and one for right)? Along with the Turn Signal Lights, I am wondering if the Light and Wipe/Wash Illumination is similar in that you actually need 2 separate bulbs rather than the 1 bulb that the How-To indicates. This is for the 521 trucks but uses same wedge base bulbs as the 620. Hope this helps 521 LED Cluster 1 Quote Link to comment
BOZO
Just so everyone will know. I done this conversion on my truck and I love it but, the led light that I put in the charging/alternator position would not allow my alternator to charge. I have the Saturn alternator in my truck and it appears the led light bulb does not have enough resistance ( at least in my truck ) to excite the alternator. After installing it my truck would not charge. It still would not charge after turning it around, but after putting my original bulb back in it worked just fine. Just passing along this info just in case somebody else runs into this problem. 3 Quote Link to comment
frank88
This is a good write up but just two chuck in my two cents. I didnt bother about the 90 deg or 180 deg light pattern. Nor did I remove any lenses. Just bought the right leds and put them in and all fitted great. I did trim the heater bulbs to fit but they are made of resin so no bother trimming the lens bit Quote Link to comment
