Rustbucket
So, $300 later, and I owned 5 couplers and 2 U/J bends in 16g stainless. Liam dropped this off the other night, so that I could cut the yolk off it. Tacked up my hot pipe this evening, and got around to running about two beads before I ran out of wire. Huge pain. I'll finish it off tomorrow, and also begin and complete the cold pipe. Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
Hot side was made from 2 1/4" stainless. Cold side was made from 2 1/2" stainless. Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
Full shot of the thing. This was my first time ever fabricating something out of tube, so I'm pretty psyched with the outcome. Quote Link to comment

ComicArtist
Curious about the radiator. RB's tend to run hot, so aren't you concerned about overheating with that tiny radiator? Quote Link to comment

Haha, a few people have asked me that. If a boosted B16 can have the shit kicked out of it all day at the track with this rad, I have no doubt that it'll be more than enough for my street car. A lot of the stock cooling issues come down to the shitty factory rad. The thicker (but smaller) rad, shroud, and e-fan should be a good upgrade for it. Quote Link to comment

I'm only curious cause every RB I've seen, mostly in S13/14's, has had cooling issues even with a full size dual core radiator. But with the ac core out of the way, and if enough airflow is directed toward the radiator, it might work out. A friend of mine has had an RB in his S13 for a little over three years, and had cooling issues until he ran vinegar or something through the cooling passages. Said a lot of gunk came loose and came out, and since then, he hasn't had any problems. Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
There's a few coolant additives that do wonders for running temps should a problem arise. I have faith in the little guy, though! Quote Link to comment

Rustbucket
Car update soon, perhaps. For now, here's my old friend of 11 years. Quote Link to comment

I can see where you guys are coming from, but I have full confidence that this rad will be well suited to this build as a mild street car. It's got a great shroud, with a good fan, and an incredibly well vented engine bay. This rad was also available at the time, relatively inexpensive, and sized accordingly - finding a dual core rad that had the correct inlet/ outlet, could fit between the frame rails, and shallow enough not to hang lower than the lower rad support was next to impossible without have to notch my rails and wedge it in. I was looking for a more 'bolt-on' solution. Have faith! <3 Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
Picked up one of two lovely boxes this evening at the post office. The two 10J's, and my harmonic balancer. Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
These are the rear wheels on the front - the actual front wheels will poke 1/4" less. Had to test them on the front, as the rear subframe wasn't in. Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
Things looks massive with the fenders off. Also, the other night I welded up all the holes in the panels. Got around to cheesin' all the markers holes, antenna hole, and hatch holes last night. Quote Link to comment
fisch
This build is so full of win. You are doing great, great things. And those wheels... Talk about giving a 510 owner wheel envy! Quote Link to comment

ComicArtist
Those 10j's look ridiculously good.... I'm green with envy right now. I'm still trying to find some 14x10/11 SSR MKII's. Not the easiest to find lol. What tire size are you planning on running? Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
Haha, I'm excited! Just ordered 205/50's for the 10J's, and 195/50's for the 9.5J's. Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs. Quote Link to comment

ComicArtist
Nice! You don't think that 195/50 is going to be too short of a sidewall do you? That's what I'm running on my Miata, and it's way too short for the S30. Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
We'll see how she goes - but, it looked good on the wheel I had originally mocked up. I'll run with it, anywho. Quote Link to comment
Rustbucket
A friend of mine dropped off my harness bar from powdercoating last night. He rules, and it matches my steering wheel like butter! Quote Link to comment
