woytovich
I am new to this forum but not new to Datsuns (have a 71 240z) or Japanese cars in general (had a few Toyotas in the 70s) I have been looking at this truck and wanted to get opinions on interest value of such a thing. I think it would be a great ride! I presume resto parts are near impossible to come by? It is a 1960 pick up, a PLG-221 by its VIN tag... Thoughts? mark Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
to determine value, we need to know LOTS about it. Mileage, history, condition, etc! Also would help to post pics! You don't see those everyday 1 Quote Link to comment
philcas1987
Haha milage ... Datsun. Pics!!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Is this the one that was on ebay located back east in Rochhell New York? Have you bought this vehicle yet? Do you have it in your possession? 1 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Is this the one that was on ebay located back east in Rochhell New York? Have you bought this vehicle yet? Do you have it in your possession? That was a PL211 sedan, not a truck, unless you're referring to another fishy ebay item... 1 Quote Link to comment

Z chopper
well there is a 221 truck forsale in NY on Craigslist http://ithaca.craigs...2335237803.html http://hooniverse.co...1-pickup-truck/ 1 Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
Thats gonna be a lot of work, but if you have the resources to restore it, albeit with non stock parts, go for it!, This is neat!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
woytovich
Deal in progress, not IN HAND yet. This is the one in the linked CL ad. How rare are these? What would its potential value be once driving again? Are there "compatible" parts or will I need to swap in significantly different: axles, brakes etc etc from non-Datsun sources? Are their cars/truck of that era with interchangeable components? Are there others out there with similar trucks? Lots of questions, I know... mark 1 Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
well looking from the front it looks like a Morris Minor but the parts do not cross over unfortunantly. Are you interested in restorodding or restoring? restorodding opens up alot of options. suspension from a 320 might be compatable, engine and trans wise again 320 or maybe an early datsun fairlady roadster. Though I would be tempted to go with an L series engine I think they would be too long for the engine bay. If you do get it post pics of the suspension etc.... that way some of the more knowledgable members here could say for sure what will work and what won't.. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
I have to say this, if all the parts are there, and you have the time and money, go for it. If all the parts are not there, good luck finding them, some L320 parts might fit such as the front bumper, but I myself would not bet a dime on that statement, I know the hood is differant because I have a 320, and mine looks differant than the one in the previous post. I will say this though, when you take parts to a plater to be chromed, them guys can fix a lot of damage and make it look new, if you can find a good plater, but you pay for that kind of service. The truck is rare, really rare back east. wayno 1 Quote Link to comment
woytovich
I would plan to make it a basic driver... a very unique grocery getter. I can do bodywork. I can do mechanicals. I'm TOLD it will run. I'm TOLD the frame is solid. I don't know that for sure So... if I can put this in my driveway for $2500 am I in the zone or am I paying too much? 1 Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
I'd say in the zone, extreme upperside of the zone but still in the zone. 1 Quote Link to comment
woytovich
That's kinda what I'm thinking... I'll keep you all updated as negotiations continue... 1 Quote Link to comment
drew510
Have you seen it in person? Pretty obvious from the pics the passenger side rocker is disintegrated. While not a deal killer in itself, it does give an indication that there may be MUCH more rust. That said, really cool looking little truck. Good luck! 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
I have changed my mind, there is a lot of rust, too much for $3500.00 I don't think it sold for that new. 1 Quote Link to comment
drew510
Nevermind, had vehicles crossed. Two 211s (one truck, one car) in the same area. 1 Quote Link to comment

Datsun Bob
The Blue truck was on Ebay about a Year ago i believe it sold there for $2200 back then in the same condition .Not sure if it was running then though . It was from Maine . 1 Quote Link to comment
CMJAnew
Here's an update! It is still in my driveway, under a tarp. My hauler had it running when he brought it back from Maine (I never heard it -- except via phone). He actually drove it without brakes and clutch. It has less than 40,000 miles on it. And, according to my friend, the hauler, - it sounds like the miles are actual. I'm not a mechanic (and have realized I don't want to play one in my driveway) Much rather bet the ponies at the local racino. 1 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
??? woytovich started this topic nearly three years ago now CMJAnew has the truck? What occurred in the meantime? 1 Quote Link to comment
CMJAnew
I've had the truck the entire time. A few evenings ago I was "wasting" time on the net......typed in Datsun PLG-221.....discovered a HOONIVERSE thread pertaining to it (interesting reads)......Did the same thing this morning and came across this one. 1 Quote Link to comment
dp320
Someone really should add a 220 classification below trucks in this forum. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
There are only a couple of them left, not really enough for a sub forum. :) 2 Quote Link to comment
