intense 620
vet said since she was a stray that wandered into our garage that she probably had parvo when we got her and by vaccinating her it just made it worse. she battled it for a while. we even played in the parking lot at the vets office :( she was a little trooper all the way to the end. ive never had to put my dog down i am officially traumatized. gpimm
Sorry about your loss. Loosing friends/family members is always hard. I had to put down a cat who was a companion for 18 years last fall. He was an orphaned kitten that we raised on a bottle from a few days old. Quote Link to comment

HRH
Dude, that's terrible, sorry to hear it. Did you stay during the procedure? We never used to, but I've found as much as it hurts, it's the best thing to be able to comfort the animal right up to the point of death. Both mom and I were crying over Cobi when the vet injected her, so the last thing she knew and heard was that she was loved. F, I'm tearing up just writing this. I love my current Molly dog, but Cobi I had from 14 years old and she went everywhere with me when I was in high school. She lived to be 14, which is a really good lifespan for as much use as she had. Her joints were being helped out with Cosequin for the last 6 years of her life, but she still ran like she was a puppy. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
Really sorry to hear that man :( I know it's not easy letting such a young friend go, but just know she's in a better place. ALWAYS REMEMBER!! Quote Link to comment

intense 620
i had to tell my kids that their dog was in heaven with itchy and charlie so they would understand. i did stay for the procedure tho i probably shouldnt have. she licked my face until the last second then i proceeded to throw up in the vets trash can. I am totally not made for this kinda thing :( i am so sorry for anyone who has lost a pet/family member. This blows... Quote Link to comment
gcmustang
Feel for you man. Most people that have pets understand that they are family. Its one of the hardest things to do to put one down. It just really sucks. When I put mine down I had to get another one soon because it was so quiet in the house. New one is different but loved just the same. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... Quote Link to comment
datrod
Amy. Sorry you had to go thru that. I had to put my dog down a couple years ago. (He had a good life). But It was the hardest thing I've ever done. Man I was a train wreck for quite a while. He made it to 14. When you have a dog that long they become family. My dog looked like the RCA dog. Might be before your time, but he was on the cover of alot of vinal back in the day. Quote Link to comment
KA620KC
Sorry for your loss. Looked like a cute dog. I have 3 of my own and I know I'd be torn up if I lost any of them. Quote Link to comment
