INDY510
. Is it on the motor??? ...... is the motor in the Datsun??? Do you want to smooth out all the casting marks??? ............ .. Are you wearing saftey glasses??? Quote Link to comment
Radim
Send it off to a polisher's would be a lot of work by hand, better yet powdercoat is getting a lot better at chrome/polished finishes... stop by your local Powdercoating shop and check it out. Quote Link to comment

sick620
wouldnt it get too hot for powder coat.... ? Quote Link to comment
INDY510
. Try a small area first......... if it's already wire brushed ........ I'd start with 220 grit or corse steel wool and some mothers polish....... then use a clean cloth to polish if that doesn't look good start with a corser grit Quote Link to comment
yello620
If you are wanting to keep all the rough-as-cst finish them i would not put any sandpaper on it. Just start with the mothers polish. This is going to take a long time to do by hand too. Patience. And where are our PICS Quote Link to comment
INDY510
. Yeah,,,, the sandpaper will make you just want to smooth out all the casting ripples......... . so mother's + steel wool might be a good thing to try first Quote Link to comment
Skib
I always like getting my stuff bead blasted and then I just clear coat it. Quote Link to comment

Just Joel
micro clear coated his valve cover, looked great at first, i saw it after it started peeling :\ Hi heat clear? Quality paint product? I've wondered how this would hold up. Later Joel Quote Link to comment
yello620
Hi-heat clear works better and seems to not peel much for me, but it starts to turn kinda yellow after a couple of years. Looks terrible. Stick to polishing, looks better. Quote Link to comment

d510addict
Hit it with some strong degreaser and scotch bright, or do the bead blasting that should clean it up nicely. That mani would look good just cleaned real well, it doesnt have the nasty edges and stuff that the stock L series have. Though I am interested to see how those things look after polish compound + steelwool. Quote Link to comment

Shagy
Hi heat clear? Quality paint product? I've wondered how this would hold up. Later Joel if you have the stuff media blasted, have a powder clear shot over it. I wish I had photos of the motor cycle frame we did. sanded the whole frame down and then shot clear powder on it. I'll have to look for them. Quote Link to comment
