Rare Datsun / Nissan A14 Remanufactured Engine There's a short version and a long version. I recommend the long version :). TLDR: Auction includes: 1 Remanufactured, never used Nissan Datsun A14 Long Block 1 old, well-used Datsun A14 engine with manifolds and most other components. 1 Huge amount of gratitude and respect for helping my down payment on a house fund and your awesomeness in building something cool with the Datsun name attached! The Long Version: OK, so here's the story. My very first car was a 1982 Datsun 210. I got it used in 1993, and I drove it for the next decade and a half. Sure, other cars came and went, but the Datsun remained with me, and it was always reliable. I loved that car. I still do. But eventually a plugged filter blew a hose on the air cleaner canister, spilling hot exhaust on the wiring harness, and the rest is history. She never ran again. She had 349,000 original miles on her. So I put her in storage and vowed to restore her when I had the time and money. So about 9 or 10 years ago, I finally had some scratch and I bought this remanufactured engine, direct from Nissan. It's never even had oil in it. I had it custom painted a beautiful red and white with high temperature engine paint, and I began the process of gutting the car. And then life happened. I went back to school, left my job, and long story short, now I'm in my 40's, with a beautiful 4 year old, wading through all this pandemic stuff and moving forward in life. So a decision had to be made, and it's this: the Datsun will have to find another way to see new life. I don't know what way that'll be, but it won't be with this engine. I hope you'll have a place to give it the car it deserves and get it on the road. The money will help keep put the roof of her own home over my daughter's head, as it'll go into our down payment fund for the house we're looking for now. This auction includes the complete Long Block A14 Datsun engine, remanufactured by Nissan. It's never been completed or assembled, but it still turns over easily with a socket and ratchet. She's good to go. Yes, that means it also has the cylinder head included, also fully remanufactured, in case you aren't sure the difference between a short block and a long block :). In addition, I'm including the old, original Datsun A14 I pulled out of the car. It's missing the carburetor (don't ask, it was ugly), but should otherwise have pretty much everything on it, including the intake and exhaust manifolds, etc. I can deliver to most anywhere in Southern California. I'm located in Fullerton, CA. You can also pick it up if you prefer. Reach out to me with any questions and I'll do my best to answer them! Thanks! Jason

  2. Started putting the new suspension on today. So far so good. Talked to a guy about paint today, too. I'm thinking metallic candy apple red, but I'm torn. Thoughts?
  3. Well, better late than never on the reply, right? Car still isn't finished, but it's a lot further along now. I got sidetracked because I got admitted to the UCLA school of film, and man oh man has that devoured my life :P. But that said, as I'm entering my final year at school, I finally have some time to work on it a little. I'll get really into it starting in August, but for the time being, it's a day here and there when I have the time. The body is totally finished and ready for paint, and I found a place to get a windshield, installed, for $177! I'm waiting on that until after paint,
  4. I will, but I was just curious what others have paid :)
  5. Bizarre, but cool. I'll just take it in someplace. Think they'll let me bring my own muffler and cat? Speaking of which, I wonder if I should get a new cat. Muffler for sure, because it's got rust holes, but the cat looks fine (just ugly, but hell, it's underneath anyway :P). About how much should I expect to pay? Thanks! Jason
  6. So I've decided I'm not going to put the old, rusty-ass exhaust pipe back into my 210. However, I'm going to stick to the 1.5" pipe, as it seems that's the best way to ensure fuel economy is maintained (according to some threads here). Question is, can you just assemble your own? I notice that several of the local parts places have exhaust chunks, but is it a good idea to do that? Last thing i wanna do is screw it up :). Thanks! Jason
  7. Thank you, I appreciate the link! I'll be using new devices almost entirely! Found H6054 shaped headlight housings that take brand new, modern style HID bulbs (hooray!) pretty cheap on ebay (already have them, they're nice!), and I'm planning to pop brand new LED's into every other orifice that spews light :)
  8. I looked at the kit, and I'm pretty sure it's not "hundreds of feet" of wire. It's also labeled neatly every 5 inches, uses modern relays and fuses, and has every last wire clearly labeled. I'd probably agree entirely IF the car weren't gutted, but it is :)
  9. Awesome, beautiful car! Mine is gutted now too, so it should be relatively easy in terms of access, I just wanted to be sure it would work. I think what I might do with the old relay box is replace it with a padded container I can put a store of fluids into for topping off :)
  10. Not likely to find another 210 :). I'll definitely complete the other kit; I've already ripped out the entire old harness because it was fried, so there's no other option :). Besides, the car is gutted, laying wire will be easy, at least in terms of access :)
  11. I should have been more specific. I meant with regards to the fuel gauge. Everything I've read about the Equus (which I really like, actually) says they don't work right with the datsun sending unit.
  12. Anyone know of a specific brand/model that is known to work with the old Datsun? :)
  13. So leaner vs richer, what's the net effect in fuel economy/power on an A14 or A15? :)
  14. Thanks! So the US/Canada bumpers are safer/tougher, but the other ones are sexier. Hmmm. Any idea if bumpers from anything else will fit?
