Pacific coast Datsun
I thought id share a few pics of my friends 87 Hardbody that were bagging. Weve been working on it here & there for about 1 month & so far we started with the rear & then will do the front last. started the notches... crossmember in place + link tabs... upper bar mounts in place. Im going to cap them & make them stronger. We also swapped in a new axle in the process... all bars & tabs welded in... frame cut out, we need to finish the notches still... rims are 18 inch Escalades, the stock front hangers will be cut flush with the frame.... Ive been doing most of the welding & it's been good practice for me. Ill post pics as we make progress... Quote Link to comment
Bleach
I like it. Looks like a nice clean setup. I've never seen that style of wheel before. It looks good Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
That is looking good. There it is again! The sun..... Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
What is that bear doing? (I'm almost afraid to ask) :P Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
Looks good Mark! I did my friend's '95 a few years ago, I hate how the frame ceases to be boxed right where you need to weld the notch on! I ended up having to box the frame, then put the notch on. Those wheels must be off the '07 eskie huh? I bet those cost him a pretty penny!?;) Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Yes Jeff it was a rough 75 degrees that day... Steve, the bear is an inside joke my friend has with another friend who's baggin his HB too..i was just the welder/pic taker haha. And yeah we did the same thing on the frame..had to box in right where the notch goes before adding it in. Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
We got alot done yesterday to the HB... an action pic of me welding upper & lower bag mounts welded in plus bridge bars in place.. also boxed in the notches. Were going with a standard over the axle setup which should give him 8 inches of lift using a large Firestone bag.. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
That's really sweet Mark! Keep them coming! If I do the NL, I think I'll just do it nice and simple like that. Plus, when it's aired up, you can't see the bags anywhere under the rig. Quote Link to comment
1lo620
Very cool ,I need to learn how to weld!!!! Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
Looks good Mark, how come you went with such a narrow width on the lower bars? Do all 4 bars sit parallel when it's aired up? Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Thx guys. Im basically welding everything in where my friends wants it. The bars dont sit as parralel as id like them to when it's laid which is affecting the pinion angle a bit but after jacking it up & down a few times & adjusting the bars the angle doesnt change that much. We also played with the lower bag mounts to make sure the bag infates/deflates evenly without distorting. Quote Link to comment
Redd
Looks good.. but i would have done put the bag on the bar... gets you alot more lift and rides hella better.... Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
We got back to it today. I made & welded in some plates that capped the upper/front bar mounts. Then we started trimming the bed & wheelwells so the 18's will tuck up & not rub on anything. A section of the inner well was removed & the bedsides will be flared out about 1 inch just to be safe.... yes thats my hand..:D me cuttin sh*t up... we trimmed/rolled the bed lip but will b flared soon... tuckin 18's... whos that goofball?.... ]2eDeYe
Talk about tuckin' That's high and tight :D Quote Link to comment
RB_Shaggs
are you running a 4x4 bed or no i know someone who lays frame on 18's and he just runs 4x4 sheetmetal no flaring needed Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Hardbody's didnt come with 4x4 beds so thats why we have to flare the sides. I have seen 4x4 fender sections grafted into the bedsides but's alot of work. Quote Link to comment
legendarybennnn
Those wheels must be off the '07 eskie huh? I bet those cost him a pretty penny!?;) nope, 290 shipped!!! found the right deal on ebay, i watched tons of auctions for months and finally got a good deal on them:D Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
I like it when the wheels are as close as possible, I basically like it when they look undrivable :D Quote Link to comment

airedout
Make sure to add shocks, bag over axles rides horrible without them. Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
Bag over axle rides horrible period! I thought mine would ride like shit with the bags on the lower bars, but it rides like a caddy! Quote Link to comment
