Tana will be out of commission for a while

Recommended Posts

Well your local parts gal, me, well I am having knee replacement reconstruction surgery and yes as bad as it sounds. The Doc of 2 yrs ago screwed up and put in too big of a joint in my knee and the bottom post is loose, so the knee will never work and I have been in alot of constant pain, making it tough to drive my favorite Fairlady Roadster.

So, new specialist will have to put a smaller joint into a larger space. Maybe he will use JB Weld? Or Bondo? So, he has to put longer rods into the bones above and below my knee to stabilize this new joint. Then he said sometimes the bones fracture when they are doing this and then they have to pin the bones...can you imagine?

So, I have this huge machine to go with me that I will put my leg in and then set it to move and bend my knee, depending upon mu Doc's orders. He said I must do very high intensity therapy to be able to use my leg again. So, I just hope they give me really good drugs so I can tolerate doing all of this. I am extremely pain sensitive, so this is what bothers me the most.

I will be in the hospital for a few days, then transferred (yea...my first cabulance ride) to a recovery/rehab (no, not booze or drugs) center in Federal Way(Manor House on 1st) for a min. of 2 weeks. Bet I will be going stir crazy after a few days. I get to borrow a laptop so that will really help.

I will really miss my pets, but have a couple of great young people, one with a 240 Z who will be house and pet sitting.

NWDE will have Randy Ayers taking my place until I am able to get there. Meeting is in Redmond, featuring Z cars on Aug. 20th at 7:30, but most get there by 6:00pm to gawk at the cars.

I will not have time to respond, but thanks ahead for any well wishes and I will be in touch as soon as I can actually think good enough to type. Tana

Imagine that! After all these years the doctors have figured out that men and women are different. The new smaller knee implant for women should fit just right, hope there is enough bone mass after the prior attempts so that pins won't be necessary. "Illigimati non carborundum", fake Latin for Don't let the bastards get you down! Attitude is super important in the recovery process.

Thankfully we live in a remarkable age of medicine Tanna. Just twenty-thirty years ago this would have meant permanent disability for you. Therapy will strengthen the muscles to stabilize the joint. Hang in there girl!!! You can do this.
