TVs today last almost forever. Saw my first TV in '55 and my parents got one the next year. We had it for 7-8 years and didn't work the majority of the time. Black & white and only 2-3 stations. Took about two minutes to warm the tubes up and formed a white dot that slowly faded away when turned off. The slightest thing would make the picture roll vertically so there was a manual control knob and one for horizontal too although now they have built in circuits for this. The tuner knob was a huge thing with 13 settings to choose from and some had a UHF setting (what ever that was we never figured it out) Picture quality sucked as it was transmitted over the air like radio to a roof top antenna (POS) and was blurry if not snowy. TV stations shut down at midnight and showed a 'test screen' until 6 the next morning. We would sit 2 feet away and watch Howdy Doody and Captain Kangaroo and cartoons like Mighty Mouse and Popeye. Saw my first color set in '62 through a neighbor's window, course not all networks transmitted in color.

to tell you the truth, TV's are not a profitable thing to sell. When you go somewhere to buy a TV, they are really hoping that you will also purchase a wall mount, expensive HDMI cable, etc. I am a mobile and home electronics installer/salesman. Just watch out for the refurbished Chinese panels and such. Try and stay in the "tier 1" product, you won't regret it.

Samsung offers TONS of different models in each size class, 19, 27, 32, 37, 40, 42, 47, 52, 55... there are different "series" indicated by the model number... 32LN330 or 32LN650... there is a VAST difference in the quality of these two panels.

The new Samsung LED's come in 4 models even. 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000

just watch out, and research things well online.

You can ask me any questions too, if you'd like. :)
