  1. 10+ years later i now know why my 72 521 doesn't stop after several brake jobs. it never stopped correctly after i did my king pins. hint hint. i always thought this might be the problem but never looked at it due to laziness i guess. the part that pisses me off is not only am i a jackass but so are the shops that looked at it and they get paid for that shit. MY FUCKING HUBS ARE ON BACKWARDS!!!:eek::eek::eek: i'm guessing this will fix my problem. i kept telling everybody it stops on a dime when going in reverse.:D i win the jackass of the decade award for this one. hell i almost got rid of my truck a few times cause it wouldn't stop.
  2. so my 521 hasn't been starting to well in the morning. i opened the throttle and saw a puddle of gas in the bottom of my intake manifold. i know the carb could use a rebuild but is there a specific problem i should be looking for to address this? thanks

  6. thanks abe. i'm back up and running again. no more 25 foot long 12 inch deep puddles for me. that was stupid.:blink: drew my fan right into my radiator. and i was almost dumb enough to try to get revenge with my other 521 not knowing why it even happened. thanks for explaining that ted.

  8. the 521 motors dont have that adjustment piece. they are just flat with no round button looking piece. the weird thing is my spare motor does one thing in one truck and something different in my other.
  9. great idea but if i change the orientation of the blades/arms to the pivot i'll be wiping the cowl and hood.
  10. thats what i used on a 620 i once owned. it was a bit on the flimsy side but i may have something around:D. i want over kill thick 1/4 to 3/8.
  11. so my 521 wipers have never parked right since i've owned it. i'm now finally getting around to screwing with it. my other 521 wipers park fine mind you. they fall 3 inches short of the correct position. i have to pull the switch out and in once really fast after that to get them parked in the correct position. there is no adjustment on the motor to correct this. my first idea was to try another switch, that didn't work. it just did the same thing. today i tried another motor and it did the same thing:blink:. hmmm, so i tried the spare motor on my truck with the correct parking motor and thats where things got weird. this time every time i turned the switch off the wipers parked where ever i turned off the switch:confused: so my process of elimination is failing. i looked at the wiring diagram and the switch and motor have no ground symbols next to them. blah freaking blah. have any of you had this problem and got it fixed. any idea's? i shall make sure all of the female wire connections are tweaked tomorrow. i have a few more switches i can try but it seems to have more to do with the motor? i may try taking out my motor and maybe switch that park correct and try them in my other truck but i have a feeling they will act funny. same datsun shit, different day. ya gotta love it. i know i do.:D
  12. it amazes me how many 521's are missing these and how hard they are to find. i almost never see 521's with fan shrouds. i have both the plastic one and the earlier metal one but no extra's. good luck on that one. sold my extra last year:(
  13. yes mike i removed all that good stuff a little more than 10 years ago:D. the plate i cut out is super thin. i wanna just stay with this mani. i suppose i can come up with something but it wont be pretty. does anyone have a 3x5 1/4 inch piece of aluminum i can play with?
  14. I need a block off plate for my l20b intake manifold. The cheesy one i made many years ago is leaking air. I know one of you can fab one up for me:) i will pay the cost and shipping. I'd do it myself but i have no machining tools. I can make and send a cardboard template if needed.

  17. so the last time this happened to me it took forever to figure out where the oil spray under my hood came from. it ended up the little ball bearing on the side of my fuel pump. i replaced it with the can style pump that doesnt have the bearing on the side. now my other 521 is doing it too. what is that thing some sort of check valve or safety crap to not blow out the pump from too much pressure? has this happened to any of you?
  18. yeah i had my last one recored by performance radiator and they did a great job, but this is my beater truck and i'm lookin to go cheap. i see them at pull-a-part all the time and just missed one.
  19. how much to ship the radiator in the first pic to tacoma,wa 98406?
