Use non synthetic for the L20b ... there are many threads on it. 20w50 on a stock motor i think ? I used royal purple synchromesh fluid in my tranmission, but any GL4 gear fluid should work ?

align it, replace shocks, rusted leaf springs ? rotted bushings ? Passenger seat bolts loose? If frame is bent 90% of the time its extremely easy to tell, you can see where panels are not aligned properly. edit, aaand two people beat me to it. :)

During the rebuild, did you shim the cam tower? Most of the time its because the cam towers are shimmed improperly, AFAIK! Check and make sure the shims are identical spacing across all four cam towers.

I'm looking for a 'close ratio' 80-83 ZX transmission ... I'd rather local so I can verify the gear ratios before buying. I'm going to rebuild it, I just want one with good gears that's rebuildable. The 7/80-6/83 model have the following ratios, 3.062, 1.858, 1.308, 1.00, 0.745 the 8/79-6/80 are okay too, they have the 0.773 5th gear with the same 1st-4th. I've been looking at junk yards locally, but it seems all the ZX's have been raided or are gone .. maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. If I can't get one here, I'm just going to go for a C series KA 5 speed swap to my L .. Thanks.

My coworker just bought a new 2012 WRX, its a fantastic car. I don't know much about the reliability or how nice they are to work on, but I do know subaru have a reputation like honda for reliability. If you want speed, that thing is definitely quick, riding in it felt like it pulled harder in the midrange than the s2000 or 350z I've riden/driven in before. Notice the gear ratio difference on the WRX and STI models, the STI are geared very close ratio 6 speed, the 5 speed in the WRX is nicer for the street. Test drive both maybe. Two weeks ago my brother picked up a 2003 WRX legacy L with 180k miles, and it drives smooth and runs strong.

Its okay, the damage is not too bad.. .do what PPK did fit massive - offset rims and roll the crap out of it... nobody will care cause its already damaged. heheheh

It drives straight when I let go of the wheel now! Bled the brakes, right side still grips harder, pads are nearly gone again. Brakes fade bad after 5 minutes of downhill. Rear drums are in great shape, hardly any wear and looking as good as when I installed them. I'm still wrestling with the understeer and underbraking, but overall its becoming more and more balanced. Brake dust.. .Brake dust everywhere! 30 miles after clean rim. The rear suspension setup. Thought it was a cool picture. Its stiff but I need more leafs!

My car isnt flush enough, I run less than 2* camber.

It has L20b. lots of L20b tech info here. What kind of suspnesion setup did the late models have? Stock height sucks.. get wheels that fit! Best mod is lowering! drops center of gravity, makes cornering nice. Welcome to ratsun.

I use K&N HP-3001 on all my cars. Seems to work okay, all quality filters seem to do the job the same. 1" socket wrench-off for easy removal. (NEVER wrench on an oil filter...)
