  1. Yeah that's pretty much the plan. Gonna go to Home Depot and get some indoor-outdoor carpet in black. Rims will be fine, they're only 14x7's. Offset is so moderate. I will test fit them, but I don't see it being an issue. As of right now, the truck is still outside my house. I will keep driving it.... until the Z car runs and drives. Then Master-o-turbonics will take her from there. She'll get lots o' loving from him.
  2. Yeah, i was not expecting him to ever sell that car, let alone to me! But I'm glad he did, because that car was a mess and he was not taking care of it like he should have been. I filled a whole trash bag already and I'm not done. The carpet might have to be thrown away. Good news is I have some cool rims to put on he once I get hardware ;)
  3. This car is proof that good customer service goes a long way. I've worked at Autozone for 4 years now... all 4 of those years, I've had a customer in and out with his 240z. We talked quite a bit, got to know each other. He had a few issues in the last year with the car. Float stuck on the front SU, piston stuck in the same car, small stuff here and there. Every time he had an issue, I was able to either fix it for him, or walk him through fixing it himself. He was stoked. All around good car though. Solid as any car should be. I had been bugging him to sell it to me for the last 2 years, told him if he ever wanted to sell it that he should let me know first and I'll take good care of it. Hadn't seen him in a few months after the last time I offered to buy the car... he walked in last Friday and smiled big, pointed to a brand new Dodge Ram he bought. Apparently blew a head gasket in the 240Z. I offered to help him fix it, and he smiled and his words I won't forget... "You wanna buy it?" I smiled and couldn't fucking hide it. $1200 and it's mine. I instantly started making phone calls trying to find a way to pick it up. Worked out a deal that involves selling my truck back to the engine builder, but only after we put a good motor in it so I have another DD. Heres where it gets good. -The car's a 1970. Early production, rocking the early/rare valve cover, and all the early goodies. -It's got A/C. Just needs a good compressor. -It's car #2563. Probably on one of the very first boats over from Japan. Over 17000 produced in 1970 alone. -The body is SOLID and there is no rust anywhere! No dents, no scratches, just needs a buff wax. -The interior could be immaculate with a cleaning. Perfect seats with no apparent signs of wear (needs more inspection) all the trim, carpet, door panels, etc. The dash is 100% crack free and appears to be original -It appears to at one time possibly had cruise control. But more on that later. I needs a hatch. He lost it on the interstate when it popped up and snapped off at about 50 mph. I have an original series 1 hatch in the paint shop right now for rust repair, paint, and re-gasket. Should be done saturday. Head gasket is gone, block/head may be damaged. The head is full of water, and the bottom end is probably wiped out. We have spare motors...no big deal... Front bumper is bent, looks like someone wrapped a chain around it and tried to tow it. Ign switch is damaged from someone trying to steal it. Other then that, it's pretty much solid. Can't think of any other issues at the moment. One to the pictures. Bear with me while I add them. This is the start.
  4. I can't wait to drive my 240Z. So freaking stoked... need to get the motor fixed.

Head gasket, probably a warped head too. Possibly bottom end issues from the amount of coolant.

i doubt it will have bottom end issues. youd really have to fuck shit up bad to waste a bottom end from a bhg. i doubt it warped the head to, unless the guy ran it up to fucked overheating and then it may have.

  5. I think I'm going to be building an L28 for it in the future. Plus I already have good rims for it.... Pics later
  6. I couldn't be happier with my Z20 block, Z22 crank, 86mm piston LZ22 setup. Parts were easy, and there was no modifying the gaskets to match coolant ports for the block to head. With an A87 peanut I run a 9.4:1 on 93 with no issues, and it's tough as nails.
  7. I like the new guy  Not dildo related. No homo
  8. ^9 times out of 10, SU's would be a much better choice. Without a lot of headwork, cam, big valves, high compression, etc, it's usually not a very good idea. SU's are great carbs. Very easy to acquire, tune, and assemble. Z car SU's are 46mm (iirc) which is more then enough for even a relatively built motor on the street. Now if you have money to burn..... you can't go wrong. Mikuni's sound amazing.
  9. man that thing is killer. Glad to see more pics of it!
  10. Actually, in many states it's not required if it's not equipped by factory. Example= In the state of Georgia the seat belt laws are exempt to any vehicle that wasn't originally equipped. For the most part, it's a classic car owner kinda deal. Allows owners of bone stock collectors cars to not modify their car from it's original state. Personally, I'd never drive a car without a seatbelt.
  11. If all goes well I'll have a new Datsun soon...by new I mean 5 years older then the current one.

  12. So my dad's up north at a friends shop where they just got a 3d printer. They setup this cool live feed on the 3D printer in progress. I've seen video's but it's cool to see this thing actually printing live. Currently printing a GoPro Hero 3+ case! http://ygd-projects.com/makerbotcam/
  13. Is it a funding issue? I wouldn't mind tossing money in to keep it alive. LMK

  15. Twin 40's will be too much for a stock L18. You'd be better off with a 38/38 downdraft or some SU's.
  16. Holy crap. Just FYI this isn't for squeamish people. There are some people dying in these videos.
  17. Also interested in the write up GGzilla! I'm using the Summit Racing brand for $175. It using the Innovate LC1 controller, with a serial out for data logging. If you could get a tach reference for the data logging software you could log AFR's and RPM's for a fairly accurate log. I can gun mine at 2000RPM and see it drop into 9's without any smoke LOL. Cruising for some reason after leaning out the idle circuits is about 13.8-14.6. Under acceleration is about 11.5-13 and it feels GOOD! One thing I can't figure out for the life of me is why it's running so fucking rich at idle. Even after spinning out the screws nearly all the way it's still high 11's - low 12's. It idles rough around 14:1 and still smells rich as hell. Idle quality SUCKS with this huge cam. I'm about to pull out my Z car SU's and finish building the linkages. I'm just gonna go ahead and run them, and dump the Mikuni money into brakes and coilovers. And a door hinge.
  18. Coming along well Bob! Too bad about the ding. I was spinning my truck around on a road to back it onto a dolly and it stalled. i nailed a guard rail and crunched the back corner pretty good. Still haven't taken the time to try and fix it. Yours looks so much easier to deal with! Looking forward to more updates...
  19. I have ARP big block Chevy 3/8th rod bolts in my lz
