  1. If it came down to it, I would consider sending somebody this collection to scan & set up, BUT mark my words, it would be COMPLETELY publicized here on Ratsun, and I would hunt that person down if they ever walked with it!! :ninja: This kind of documentation is worth its weight in gold............
  2. ...........then a cross ref with key words needs to be made, so people can find info! What computer software can do that? Anything that will read PDF? I'm not a computer guy, barely get by, but SOMEBODY on here must be!!?? What is the best way to do this............after we find out about the copyrights!! :poke:
  3. I'm gonna say this again...........if you guys EVER have a chance to get a stack of these old crusty newsletters, grab them! If you buy a mod'd car that's been around since the 80's-90's, ask the owner if he has any! Ask, ask ask!! The last time I sat around and read these (from my other stash of newsletters), I spent lots of time in the old classifieds. If I found a classified listing in the midwest (I'm in Michigan), I called the freakin' phone #! Sounds silly, but I actually got a handful of guys that still had the same #!! Most were receptive to my call. Out of that, because car enthusiasts are often IN the car business, I found one guy that was actually one of my old customers, when I was selling wholesale British restoration parts to him......I never knew he was into 510's!! And no, I still haven't been able to buy the 510 that he still has sitting in the corner of his shop, covered in dust & dirt for 20 years (too much $$mulla)!! I also talked with a few guys that rally raced in the 70's-80's with my pro rally buddy!! Good times............networking!!
  4. But that means that the "assembled" newsletter itself would have to be taken apart, perhaps even pages torn in two, and coalated (is that the right term??!!). Any way you look at it, it takes a tremendous amount of time, and between that & the potential copyright infringement, that's likely why it has never been done! I wish I was rich, didn't have to work to live, and could do stuff like this. Maybe I should start playing the lottery..............
  5. Copying...........it would either be expensive to have Kinko's or ?? to do it, OR it would take endless hours to do myself. I would love to share, but OMG!! :crying: Have these newsletters ever been "cataloged" online?? I thought that okayfine (Julian) has all of the "Dime Quarterly" online, but I may be wrong............... If anybody needs a SPECIFIC COPY, I'd be happy to make a copy, but the whole collection would be a huge project!
  6. I got a call from my buddy who took over my other buddys restoration shop, after he passed away. I bought ALL of Eric's 510 stash (it took 5 trips to haul) just before he passed away, and Bob continues to unearth stuff, even after 4 years! He recently called me and asked if I wanted a "Mitchells" repair book for the 510, and of course I said "YES!!". Turned out that Eric only used the binder to collect his 510 club newsletters! I have NOT sat down with it yet (I already have a pretty good collection of these), but I can see that it starts with the "UFO Reports" FEBRUARY 1982 thru JULY1985............. ............then transformed into the "5 & Dime" OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 1985 thru MARCH/APRIL 1989............ ......then into "510 Again" APRIL 1992 thru FEBRUARY 1999. He wasn't involved with 510's for many years, and I don't know when "510 Again" ended, but I think I would have the rest, along with a mostly complete "Dime Quarterly" collection. If any of you ever get a chance to pick up these old newsletters, they are FULL of killer articles, pictures etc etc. They are a MUST READ!!!! I've seen pics of some of the older guys back in the 80's, and I found a FOR SALE listing for one of my parts cars.......15 years before I bought it! .
  7. omg. I was so close to painting one of my 510's the late model Mustang GT mist green. That color is killer.
  8. sandman, way cool Wagon! I assume they made manual trans 810's (??), so hopefully you can find the pedal set, but I would expect hard to find! The automatic 510's already had the pivot points & all for the clutch pedal, the pedal simply wasn't installed...........maybe the 810's were the same way? Great project!!
  9. I just saw that 68 grille too..............$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ boing!!
  10. That 200sx was at the 510 Meet at Summit Point......cool old race car!
  11. Dude, that sounds like a great buy!! You need to buy some BEEEEEEEER for the guy that told you about it!!!!! :w00t:
  12. Oops, I thought it was the other way around! pl521sss.......the parts I PM'd you about are BW. My car was a 1971.
  13. Hard to find these............good luck with your search!

    "The Keeper"

When you use the paint stripper to that extent (ie underside of the hood), how do you ensure that you have removed all of the residual stripper, once done? Do you wash the body & the sheetmetal parts down? With water? Do you just count on cleaning it really good by hand before primer & paint? I haven't used stripper in many years, and never to that extent!
  15. You fit in just fine here on Ratsun with all those Datsuns.................
  16. Shipping, USED car parts in this case, is actually quite a bit of work. Sounds like most Post Offices are slow......mine sure is! I've been shipping car parts for 28 yrs, so it comes relatively easy to me, BUT it does take time/labor. You have to be able to justify YOUR time & labor, ultimately into the value of the part, OR tell the buyer that you tack on a few bucks for handling. I generally won't sell anything for less than $10.........just not worth it. I custom cut boxes down smaller all the time, to suit the part being shipped, which really comes with experience. My favorite packing material for heavy parts is 3/4 extruded styrofoam sheeting from Lowes/Menards/Home Depot but it costs $12-13 a 4x8 sheet (I tack on that cost to the shipping cost). Heavy parts that fit in the USPS Flat Rate boxes works great. Larger heavy parts I ship Fed Ex Ground (I found it cheaper than UPS as a walk in, not a business. If you are a business, than UPS is cheaper) Big parts (hoods, doors trunk lids, bare engine blocks transmissions) I ship Greyhound. Small light parts I ship USPS First Class or Priority in my own box. Larger light parts I ship USPS Parcel Post in my own box. Biggest drawback to USPS as an individual, is no tracking # like Fed Ex or UPS. I prolly have a 99% success rate with USPS. Hope some of that helps!
  17. My understanding is that the LSD's were only in the 86-89 Subaru "Full Lock 4WD" optioned cars. I have never seen a car that was marked only as "4WD", with an LSD. Those "Full Lock" transmissions are worth a few bucks to the Subaru guys, so if you can get the matching trans cheap, turn it & make a few bucks! These LSD's are getting very hard to find these days!
  18. The Z-car 14inch steelies fit great, with a decent selection of tires................
  19. Wow, killer deal for $100!! I used dry ice to break up the tar paper insulation on the floors, and of course found much more rust underneath. If you use dry ice, handle that stuff carefully! Boy, that had a full repaint at one point from that baby barf yellow to the blue, even the engine compartment! Good luck with the project!
  20. Great thread! There's an SR20DET powered MGB here in Michigan, never heard of any others!
  21. I wouldn't hesitate putting in an L20B & a 5 speed if you prefer a l'il more driving fun. I would think that upgrade actually increases the value of any 510, unless the car is restored to showroom condition, and sold to a serious purist..........most 510 buyers aren't purists.
  22. Don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but inline4's PM box is full......gotta clean it out! Those Allison EI kits are decent. I sold lots of them back in the 80's-90's for British cars. I think Crane Ignition bought Allison, so you might be able to track the kit part # to current cataloging to help you sell it..........
  23. I've got one NOS P215/50-13 BFG Radial TA!! Anybody need it?? Very cool 1200.........GLWS!
