Where is it leaking? I have a few extra NOS J13 gaskets. Keith
  2. I recently acquired a metal "DATSUN Smith Mesa" frame. Is this a rare or common frame? Thanks, Keith
  3. I was wondering who owned the 510 at Tony's . It looks great. Keith

    Splash guards

These splash guards are not mud flaps that attach to the body behind the wheels. The splash guards are attached to the inner front fender liner. Their purpose is to keep road debris out of the engine compartment. Keith

    Splash guards

While disassembling my 520, I found remnants of the rubber splash guards, items 18 & 19 at http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun520/Datsun520521Index/Body/FrontView/tabid/1493/Default.aspx Does anyone have a photo of the splash guard or a template of the guard? Thanks, Keith

    New seatbelts for the 520

XXL, The seatbelt retrofit looks great. Do you still have the original pair of 520 seatbelts available? I am looking for a set for my project. Thanks, Keith
  8. The "d" is actually a "P" for recognition of the Prince Motor Company. More info is at http://www.earlydatsun.com/prince.html Keith

    Door glass felt wipers

I stripped the old fuzzy off the chrome strip and glued some window fuzzy from the hardware store: http://www.flickr.com/photos/53116286@N07/8625112030/in/set-72157625715299187/ Turned out great. Keith
  10. I can tell you a few things about the Patrol. The OHV P Series engine is the predecessor of the OHV P40. The block and bell housing are not interchangeable with any Ford, GM, or Toyota parts. The transmission is a 3 speed, not interchangeable with any tranny know to exist. (There are Patrol owners who have researched this for over 40 years and nobody had found a bolt-up replacement.) A company called Mark's in Australia made a 5 speed transmission; however these are rare and had never been officially imported into the USA. Keith
  11. Probably the cost of rebadging the "Nissan" emblems to "Datsun" emblems was not economically feasible. You have to remember, Nissan had no plan to market the Patrol in the USA. The LHD configuration was designed for Australia, where the Datsun name had no relevance. Here is a leaflet that says "Nissan's Datsun 4-Wheels Drive Patrol for '69". http://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1709 Keith
  12. So did the starter on ebay I pointed to you work out? Keith
  13. Is the J15 starter interchangable with a J13 starter? Keith
  14. XXL, Two questions: 1) Would it have been less expensive to fabricate this out of aluminum tubing and aluminum jounts? 2) Are you interested in fabricating another one to sell? Keith
  15. highdesertdatsun, If you want to go with rubber line, here are the parts I used: 28461 http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/GAT0/28461.oap?ck=Search_28461_-1_823&keyword=28461 28462 http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/GAT0/28462.oap?ck=Search_28462_-1_823&keyword=28462 SharkBite 1/2 in. 16. XXL, Beautiful design and fabrication. What is your connection design for the heater core at the firewall? Keith
  17. Some of the parts on the J13 motor are interchangeable with the BMC B-Series motor. The threading on the fasteners are not the same. I have had to install some BMC B-Series motor parts on my J13; oil slinger, rocker arm springs, crank dog (the threads had to be remachined), rocker arms, pushrods, and a few other odds & ends. I do not know if the valve cover or exhaust manifolds are interchangeable. Keith
  18. I am interested in the glove box liner. Keith
  19. datsunpolisher, I am looking for the following: 1) Transmission Rubber Boot (photo attached) Item 30 at http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun520/Datsun520521Index/PowerTrain/TransmissionCase/ToSep65/tabid/1455/Default.aspx The boot for the transmission supplied with the J Series motor is different from the L Series supplied transmission. 2) COVER-DUST Item 22 at http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun520/Datsun520521Index/PowerTrain/Clutch/J13ToSep66/tabid/1451/Default.aspx Thanks, Keith
