  1. Progress! From this: To this: These manifolds are a pain in the ass to dismantle. Unless you have specific tools (curved/bench wrenchs) removing the carb requires removal of everything... And luck me, the last person who worked on the carb partially striped the inner rear nut, so we had to remove the bracket that secures the throttle cable, which requires the removal of the bracket behind it... So, can an A series be de-smogged if you still use the stock hitachi? It would be much easier to deal with it now so that I don't have to worry about it when I start designing my SC setup. Thats all we did to the B210 today. I also had to deal with a carb issue on the 620 when I got home from work. Gonna pick up some pinesol to soak the carb for a week before I rebuild it. Figure a few days to loosen things up, then dismantle and scrub and back in a fresh soak for a few more days. I have next Saturday off so I'll be researching de-smoging the a-series and hopefully get the carb rebuilt and mounted back.
  2. WOOT! Work was done! Had an issue with the 620 so the B210 didn't get much, more details in will be in the build thread soon! :P
  3. Yea, I just saw someone mention an HEI module for it. Its more difficult digging for info on a-series, but its kinda fun too. I've said this before, but I actually plan on doing some work on the car this weekend...
  4. Ah, thanks for that. My brain is fried. Back to the drawing board :P
  5. Ok, so I was asked a while back to take a pic of my distributor in my build thread. I didn't think much of it, but tonight I went searching through the tech wiki on the 1200 forum. I was looking for info on locking the distributor, but what struck me as odd was that it looks like my car has a pertronix kit in it. My close up pic (horrible angle and quality): 1200 forum pic of B210 distributor: 1200 pic of pertronix: The reason this confuses me is that this is a 78, which should have come with a stock electronic distributor. Now the person I bought the car from told me that the person he bought it from (follow me for a minute) left it sitting because he could never get the engine to idle. Supposedly it would crank and rev, but wouldn't run well. So, if this is indeed a pertronix, would it be possible that this idle issue was caused by hooking it up to the stock EI coil? I'm not home so I can't run out and check the coild or get better pics. Just noticed something odd and figured I would ask the brain trust :P
  6. Those times when you are ordering parts and can't remember what you have sitting at home...

if this isn't in the "you know you own a datsun" thread, it should be.

  7. I thought that was normal... I have a hood, cowl, transmission, multiple interior and engine parts and a D16z6 head (???) in my room. Makes for a nice obsticle course when I wake up... And of course, no room is complete without the turbo that you plan to put on every car you get, but just can't decide which one needs it more :P
  8. That blue is really nice. Wanna paint my 620 next? Then DTP will trade me his Z (I haz proof!)
  9. Thats awesome. I really wish we had more road courses nearby. All of the tracks I know about are either 1/4 mile strip, circle dirt, or circle paved. Its just not that fun to watch cars make 50-600 left turns. However, that is also why all the Nascar fans love it when Jr. makes his weekly hard rights into the wall :poke: Good luck to you and your son this season. Please put up some videos when you get everyone back on the track
  10. Nono, not hot karl. Stop spreading your sass and skinny jeans southward! Its bad enough you talked me into buying a shirt :P
  11. Beowulf? Wasn't Angelina in that one? :fu:
  12. Lol, so much hate for vegemite. People be crazy. Now I just need someone from Iceland to send me some hákarl. I'd also like some dried prons, but I have heard that the asian food store near the AFB carries most of the oddities (except stinky tofu :( )
  13. "The right one" is kicking your ass bro :poke: Just playing. You need more bright green on the truck
  14. My engine is blue: Now can I haz blue car?
  15. No one loves the 200sx? I mean I see the grille, but that 200sx is pure sexy considering they are usually junkers :P
  16. Trying to email him to see if he has a Z22 block, wish me luck :P

  18. Holy hell, I want one... That thing looks retardid, but seems to have some get up and go, even if it is dangerous :P
  19. I bought my carb from webercarbsdirect. I think I added some pics of it in my 620 build thread. The only downside to buying from them is the generic installation guide. Most likely the instructions will not match what you have, so you can either wing it (like I did) or find someone to walk you through it. The 32/36 fom WCD was easy to install for a first timer with no carb experience. However, I have not tuned it and can tell that it is running rich (smell gas, black plugs, ect) but I'm still to scared to try to tune it myself without having my B210 running first :P
  20. Woot, finally picking up the first part of my LZ. This will be REALLY slow with all of the overtime at work. Thanks to tdaaj for letting me get a complete U67 head.

  21. Bah, alright Tristan, you talked me into spending money I shoudn't have spent  Just ordered a 620 shirt for now.
  22. I live in bumfuct GA, the only thing around here is the Brittish Pantry, and they only sell Marmite. Besides, its made from beer (sorta) whats not to like :P
  23. Lol, how did I miss this thread. Can't wait to get the spreadable awesomeness... Sounds kinda kinky but whatever. From what I understand, if the customs officer is angry and wants to be a dick, he will eat my vegemite himself and say it wasn't legal... Hope he chokes on it! However, its most likely that they will just not open the package and I will get my nummies in 2-4 weeks :P
  24. Haha, I think we have all been there. "I just want it to run well" *Joins Ratsun* "Maybe an LZ or SUs" *First show/read and epic build thread* "I want (insert high powered unobtainium engine)!" Nothing wrong with just driving it and enjoying it. So far my 620 has been the most fun out of any vehicle I have owned. Its slow, rough around the edges, and drinks gas like a v8, but its old and awesome :P
