clcla4
Acquired this from a pretty cool guy, ready to but my own mark on it. Several people on facebook have said its made the rounds so hopefully i make it better than when I bought it . The kids love it though which is the main thing 5 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
My daughter hates my patina rigs. My son loves them. Go figure. 1 Quote Link to comment
SWFL
Did you pay his asking price? Quote Link to comment
clcla4
We worked out a pretty good price below his asking price, the way these trucks are appreciating it was a good deal to me. 1 Quote Link to comment
clcla4
Can anyone give me any insight as to if this patina is natural or someone messed with it. a couple old school guys at work think the paint had to be manipulated. Has any one had a datsun do this Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I wouldn't call it patina. That would be more like the paint worn away revealing the primer beneath. I've seen decals crack like that. Probably resprayed 1 Quote Link to comment
clcla4
maybe we can agree that it is Rustina instead lol Quote Link to comment
EDM620
Looks like "doctored" paint, cracked up laquer wouldn't be that obvious from a distance and notice it misses the A & B pillars plus the roof. Like Mike notes, decals will crack up as they shrink revealing the original paint beneath. Since the interior appears to be the same color as the exterior, the black "cracks" really don't seem to have anything to do with the paint. "Artsy" Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Looks like it was resprayed to match the back, could be a chemical reaction in the paint to the different type of paint underneath. I have seen similar. Edit: This thread would be cooler with more pics 😄 1 Quote Link to comment
clcla4
Actually after posting I have found a couple of this trucks with the same paint and the funky web like effect, I am inclined to think it may be real and just a funky reaction on this paint. Quote Link to comment
yenpit
Love this thing! 😎 If interested, I have a pair of 8 inch wide old school chrome reverse steelies with NICE patina (nowhere near perfect). I am using two on the rear of my 521 flatbed, have two available. PM if interested! TJ 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
It looks legit to me. I owned a cab and chassis Chevy that had paint like that. The cab and chassis bit is important because it was also resprayed just after it left the dealer lot. The paint cracked off in small islands over time, just like your pic. Quote Link to comment
