Koyorad

Recommended Posts

I purchased a Kyorad but I'm having an alternator clearance issue. The lower hose connector is hitting my alternator. Has anyone else have the same issue or have any suggestions on how to remedy. Your input is appreciated thank you in advance.

Shorter alternator belt might help. This is a very common problem. I've got a few koyos, great radiators

 Much better then champion radiators.

Yes, it's a 510, but I didn't take any pictures.

I did reposition the alternator and tried a few smaller belts (891mm) but I couldn't the belt on over the pulley.  The 920mm belt fit but the alternator would hit the lower hose connector.

Thanks for your response, when I get some time I will take some photos and post it.

I get the shortest put it over the alt and the waterpump pully. then the lower part of belt is short and wont get over the crank pully then I turn the water pump pulley then the lower will slip on.

belt sizes Gates part numbers 7345 up to 7360.of coarse depens on alt size 35 or 50 amp or bigger

I heard the KOYO still need spacers on the core support to spaceit off the support

My Kyorad did need about a 1/4 inch spacer to get it off the supports. That did put it in a clearance issue with the alternator at the same hose/outlet that OP is having.

I ended up using a slightly shorter belt (only about an inch shorter). I have been able to change the belt without totally disconnecting the alternator; start with the belt on the alternator, just need to work it around the fanbelt pulley with a small screwdriver.
