Ebenezer scrooge
The engine bay lamp doesnt work on my datsun. I measured the voltage to the wires connected to the socket and i got about 0.12V (switch not activated). When i searched here in the forum i read that there is a fuse located behind the glovebox, but does this current to this light run through this fuse? And the ground is not the problem. banzai510(hainz)
one side of swich should be 12volts the other side to ground. when hood is open the switch will short out. So you can ohm out the switch. If switch is shorted when hood open the its good and you can use your meter and see where you loose the 12volts. most time this is might be listed as a COMMON fuse on the fuse box. CCom,mon meaning its common to the door buzzer cig lighter dome light. Power will be ON (12volts) all the time. it just finds a Grnd to make it work thru a switch 1 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
The 520 should be like the 521 and be swithed when the hood is opened. These lights are as bright as a candle in the wind! LOL Quote Link to comment

Early 620 under hood lamps were powered by the idle cut circuit, '74 and up were on the parking lamp circuit. If parking lamps are on there is power to the lamp also. It has nothing to do with the inline fuse in the wiring harness. It is only used on the '75 and up trucks for powering the interior lamp, cigar lighter and in one year, the clock option. 1 Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
Buy one of those Chinese Bell & Howell 'TacLight' flashlight on TV, with a magnetic base, and carry it in the truck. You will be light years ahead. (pun intended) 1 Quote Link to comment
