KELMO
Awesome, thanks for sharing. Had I gone to that, I would have lost my mind. 4 Quote Link to comment
qwik510
I had a great time at the Mitty. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet so many of you. Too many people, too many cars, not enough hours in the day. Here is a clip I took of one of the races. Datsuns dominated the field. 3 Quote Link to comment

metalmonkey47
I was ecstatic.... I can't begin to count the number of people that walked up to me to tell me that they saw my old truck. Dime Dave
I was in the outer paddock and didn't get too much time in the infield. The car handled well and with a 1.6l engine I was running with the smaller bore Group 2 cars. On track, photo by Gary Savage 3 Quote Link to comment

Son_of_a_Datsun_Guy
metalmonkey/Matt, what lenses are you shooting with? Looks like you're getting some great subject/background definition and your panning shots are framed excellently. I'm sure a lot of it is experience, but I wonder if there's some lens magic happening as well... Quote Link to comment

Son_of_a_Datsun_Guy
Some great cars , thanks so much Price on that 23 raytown 200sx?? His flyer said 89k. Little steep, I thought. Very cool build though. It's a stock bore L18 with mechanical fuel injection and a turbo hanging off the side of it. Wild stuff, bet it breaks a lot. Quote Link to comment

Thanks man, Everything I shot above was done on one of two lenses, shot with a D800. -Sigma 35mm f1.4 ART -Sigma 70-200 f2.8 DG HSM I don't have as much experience as I'd like with pan shots, I need more practice but I feel like I've done well. It's definitely a learning curve. I've found that the image stabilizers are basically a must if you want more than one in every 25 photos to actually turn out. Makes me jelly of that 70-200 Sigma. :P I also seem to get much better photos when single shooting panned shots, rather than burst or high speed. I think the Canon 80D body just can't handle that level of autofocus change when the shutter's flapping that fast lol. Glad to see you posting again, feel like I haven't seen a ton of stuff recently. Maybe I'm just not on enough... Quote Link to comment
RJRACIN240
Had a great time there and having the opportunity to hang with friends and make new friends, brought my 620 that is a tribute to the first 510 to compete in a FIA event in 1970 at Daytona where it was the first Datsun to race at the 24 hour race. 510 was built by Don Kearney at his shop in Clearwater Florida called Dons Foreign Auto, car was given to Clearwater Datsun for them to compete at Daytona. 1 Quote Link to comment
