Plusnone
Long time lurker here... It seems that I may be picking up a new project car this week. Build thread and gobs of pictures (of course) to ensue if I do. I have Datsuns in my past, but I've been without for going on 9 years. I'm excited to get back into it and to pull from the wealth of knowledge here on ratsun! But to get it I need it towed and I thought I'd put it out here to see if anyone from the bay area has the means and would like to earn some dollars. I'm in Berkeley and the car is out near Lodi and needs to come home to the east bay. I'm open to pickups with or without a dolly (we can rent one), flatbeds or suggestions for a professional outfit worthy of my business. It needs to happen this Friday and I'll probably go the U-Haul pickup/dolly route unless I hear from anyone here. Since I'm going to spend the money anyway I thought maybe it could go to someone here! And it would be great to meet up with one of y'all. PM me or post here if you have any thoughts. Otherwise look out for the build thread if the sale goes through. Mods, sorry if this is the wrong location couldn't figure a more appropriate place. Thanks. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
Right place, welcome. Best place once you get the car is to start a build thread in the Project Datto forum. Youve obviously worked out this site is full of dysfunctional pic whores. Theres a pinned post in the general discussion forum on how to post pics. 1 Quote Link to comment
shacks510
If you're towing it with the rear tires on the ground, disconnect the driveshaft and tie it up. You'll cook the tranny even in neutral... if it has an engine/trans. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Busta Nut (Antony) in Saf Rafael is a good wealth of knowledge to set you straight on anything 510. As well as many others... 2 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Busta can help with towing... Or... Skyblue has a running/driving dime on the block. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/70041-new-510-in-the-family/ 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Yes both. 1 Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
Thanks all. I'll pm busta and see what's up. Also, I was watching skyblue's posting... If this one falls through I might go that route. I can't say how stoked I was when I realized so many members of this community are right in my backyard! I know I'll be seeing many of you soon. 1 Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
Love me some CCR. Maybe this will be the first song I play in the dime... After I get a stereo in it... Which will be after I get it running... Which will be after... 3 Quote Link to comment
The Taterhead
You said it was in Lodi. That song popped in my head. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Towing on the rear wheels is not recommended over 50 miles. OR stop every fifty and idle the engine for 30 seconds in neutral or just leave idling for the length of the tow. Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
You said it was in Lodi. That song popped in my head. Heard that song so many times, never knew it was "Lodi" I wonder what on earth I was singing along. Listening to the lyrics carefully, I don't think Lodi's changed much since the song was written. Ha. 1 Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
Towing on the rear wheels is not recommended over 50 miles... A buddy just got a truck yesterday and we are going to use a uhaul auto transport trailer instead of a dolly. Also, car doesn't run so no idling any time soon. Hahaha. Hopefully this will be the only time she's a trailer queen. A rusted, moldy queen... But a queen none the less. Hopefully soon she'll just be a rusty(contained) DD queen! Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
All excellent information! Thanks all! I'll keep you posted... And link to the build thread once it's up. Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
Well, I got it home! Long story that involves lost titles and uhaul issues to be elaborated on after the holidays. Right now, the dime's in my garage, the buddy that helped me out (and I) are full of beer and pizza and I'm going to sleep. Took a big gamble and waiting to see if it paid off, in limbo for now but seeing as how I have the car and the money (short of a small deposit) I'm sure it will get squared away soon... Otherwise it's on the seller to come get it, and unless they want to drive from Lodi, and deal with getting a slammed car with flat tries up on a trailer.... Yeah, it'll be all mine soon. In the mean time I'll figure out how to post pics. Forgive me, oics!!!!!! 2 Quote Link to comment

Plusnone
Get the title issues resolved before dumping money into this, Cali DMV can be a nightmare. Post oics! Yep, had a dmv apt when I was buying the car, wasn't going to hand over cash until it was in my name... That's how I found out about the title issue (with the seller by my side, I think it was all a bit of a shock to them as well... benefit of the doubt). Needless to say I've yet to pay for it, and have not put any time or money into it yet - short of the ordeal getting it home and a small good-faith deposit. Thanks for the concern though, if I was going into this wet behind the ears it would've bit me good and your looking out would have been well heeded!!! Thanks! 1 Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
Let's see this thing I know, I know. Computer's getting back to me in the next day or two and the holidays have been very busy (I have two young boys). All my posts are via phone and trying to figure out oics on my phone sounds like a nightmare. I'll get on it soon. Quote Link to comment
The Taterhead
Download the mobile Photobucket app. To place a picture in your photobucket account (in the app) select "upload media". Then camera roll. Select the picture you want in your photo bucket account and it will revert back to the photo bucket app. Move the picture to the desired file in your photo bucket account if you have multiple files. If you don't do this now and you post the picture and move it later, it will break the link and will have to be redone. Have a window in safari/web browser opened with Ratsun pulled up. Press the home button to go to your app screen. Then tap the PB app. Go to "my albums" and then the desired folder. Tap the picture you want to post. On the bottom tap the square with the arrow pointing up. Then tap "copy". It will bring up 4 link codes. Tap the bottom one (the IMG code). It will say "IMG copied". Press the home button again and open Ratsun in safari back up. Double tap in the reply box at the bottom of the page (in the correct thread) and tap "paste". All you see is the image code but when you tap "post" your picture will appear. You can also add text just don't screw with the IMG code 3 Quote Link to comment
