B210 Rollcall

It is a CA18DE from a 1990+/- Nissan Silvia. It ain't much, but puts down approx 130hp.

I wanted to keep the idea of a compact sedan with a high-revving, low torque engine. I really liked my A14, but I passed it on to a friend with a 1200. I found this little CA18 on my local Craigslist page for a deal and got a complete turn key swap for a low price.

The idea of the compact, high revving car really shines through with the CA18DE. 130hp / 115ft/lbs torque and it will happily rev to 8,000 rpm. High compression of something like 10:1 so it's quick to rev.

Also, the non turbo CA18 is something kind of special. It's found in the USDM Nissan Pulsar in FWD lay out, however, a RWD non turbo CA is something of a rarity. You can easily find a turbo CA on ebay or your local CL.

FYI, the FWD engine is essentially the same, with the exception of the intake manifold. I have put one together using a CA20E flywheel and transmission from an '85 200SX.

They were available in the Pulsar, and also some Sentras. If you want really high revving, there was also a CA16DE sold here.

Probably no way to get it to pass smog o California. The CA18 does not come with any sort of smog equipment. No egr or anything like that.

See above. May be an option?

As well as mixing and matching with a JDM engine/trans with some USDM parts?

This is an odd one....

But I would love to do a B210 or 1200 with an E15T (1.5L turbo) from an earlier Pulsar. It is rumored that the A series transmission will physically bolt to the E15 block, making it easier to go RWD.

This engine is rare and is available in North America.

I would bet there are more CA18DETs in this country than E15Ts...

You'd be 100% right. 240SX drift fan boys love CA and SR turbo engines...

Like I said, the E15T is fucking rare!!!

Just an observation for people who are considering a CA18DE swap....

It's fucked. Don't try it.

Exhaust manifold hits steering box. Only about 2.5" from front of engine to radiator (depending what rad you use).

I'm not losing interest or hope, but I don't under stand how a KA or anything turbo fits in a LHD car.

Also, center link smacks the block / bell housing area.

It's fucked lol.

Odds you have the engine too far forward? Using a 510 crossmember, or just modified your mounts? 510 crossmember would make it much easier...

It doesn't.

NA, need a header for most engines. Turbo, you need a top mount manifold that relocated the turbo up.

Easy fix (but not cheap) would be Icehouse's rack and pinion conversion.  B)
