dimlight65
As is often the case, plans have changed. While trying to 'splain my decision on the paint today, someone mentioned how good a set of white, steel, wagon wheels could look on a purple van with white roof. It was also pointed out that a set of white, steel, wagon wheels cost like $0.37 at Kroger (on the Small Block Chevy aisle)... y'know, for all intensive porpoises. Anyhoo, with this in mind, I think I'm going to go with "Appease Mom Purple" instead of yellow/black after all. Don't tell her though, it's going to be a surprise. 1 Quote Link to comment

q-tip
Not everything needs to look like a c-10... The good ol' wagon wheels would look fine but the stock type steelies with a hub cap in the center would be a good look too. 1 Quote Link to comment

For that matter, might be able to find some OEM steelies from a Crown Vic or someshuch... 1 Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
Hmm, I might could be talked into a set of white steelies with baby moons. But I'm such a throwback that I like the white wagon wheel look. Man, I gotta go buy a pair of blue jeans so I can make some cutoffs! 1 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Chrome steelies with baby moon caps The idea behind white wheels was to tie it into the white roof. I know Tim. If we don't do white wheels, we won't change wheels at all. Quote Link to comment

goes2fast
Wow, Looks great! I know you don't like chrome, but nothing looks better when the vehicle is a dark color imho. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
I think brushed finish on the chrome would look good with that purple, but I'm all for the whit top and white wagon wheels. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I know you don't like chrome, but nothing looks better when the vehicle is a dark color imho. The purple he has chosen is at best darkish. Not so dark it must have chrome wheels, but would still look tits with them. ^_^ But I'm on board with the white. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
On a side note, we picked up a pair of leather seats from a 2014 Pathfinder in grey. So looks like to tie into the purple outside we will be doing mostly gray inside. Floors and doghouse black, then seats, doghouse lid, dash, and door inserts grey. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Roof got painted last night, but didn't get a pic. Roof masked off, fresh coat of sealer on, first color coat going on... First color coat done... Third color coat going on... Did 4 coats total of purple. Hopped on the ladder to show you the white roof (sort of)... Hope to have some pics of it outside in the sun on Saturday... Pics of it inside do it no justice. It looks AWESOME. B) 4 Quote Link to comment

Duncan
Two painting shots and no respirator. It's his choice I guess. I'm liking the purple. Definitly a 60's vibe going on there :) My '64 Econo was lime green. 1 Quote Link to comment

For some reason it's like he forgets to put it on when he starts spraying, then 10 seconds later puts it on. You can see it on him in this pic... 1 Quote Link to comment

Duncan
Hey, no problem here. I didn't like motorcycle helmets when I used to ride bikes on the street. Is the purple a single stage paint, or does it get clear? I'm normally not a big purple or bright yellow fan, but it looks "correct" on that van. He wears one about 98% of the time. dimlight65
Beats saving for retirement This is my thinking. Whenever anyone asks me what my plans for the future are, I usually say, "I plan to spend the vast majority of it being dead." 3 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Is the purple a single stage paint, or does it get clear? I believe the roof is a two stage gloss Bright White, sides are single stage satin Plum Crazy purple. As you can see now that it has cured a little better, it's not as glossy as it looked before... Dash painted a silver that is a good match for the seats... And door panels... And a pic of said seats... Next time planning to put all the glass back in, then putting the dash back together. 3 Quote Link to comment
