doctordat
Just picked up a very clean original dash for my 68 510 with no cracks. Is there any product I can put in it to keep it from cracking or should I put a cover/cap on it to protect it? I really don't want to see this nice dash crumble like all the rest. Any suggestions? datzenmike
Best to just keep out of direct sunlight and extremes of heat and cold. I use Armor-all on my dashes but some say there are chemicals in these sprays that affect the plastic adversely. Clean and waxed, no harsh chemical cleaners. That's about all I can advise. 2 Quote Link to comment
doctordat
The extremes of heat and cold is going to be my biggest problem. Where I live it gets well below 0 during the winter and into the 100's in the summer. I do have a garage to keep it in but it's not heated Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Keep the car in a garage. Get a sun shade, inside the car when parked. Try to always park the car facing North. 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Yes direct sunlight is the killer, Its the radiant heat when sun rays penetrate the glass which amplifies the heat, Like daniel said park inside or if outside get a sunshade. Or if you don't trust us take it off and leave it in the house, It will be fine there. Quote Link to comment

MicroMachinery
Once you start using some products (such as Armor-All), it will start to suck the life out of your dash, and will doom it unless you keep reapplying it religiously. Water based products are the best. I use this: I have applied it to a number of dashes and interiors, and it's done me nothing but good. 1 Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Dash mat. Then slather it with baby oil every now and then, it keeps it supple. Seriously. 1 Quote Link to comment

69datsun510
Gummi Pflege Stift or 303 Aerospace Protectant 303 Aerospace Protected is better then Amorall or the likes. 303 has been around for ages and won't dry out your vinyl like most other silicon products. 303 get my vote 1 Quote Link to comment
