Draker
Someone needs to team up with skyc110 to import one of these.. or some of the other rare datto's he has over there. You would be the coolest kid at Canby.. aside from wayno. He has set the bar pretty high. 2 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Now you don't have to drive a long ways to see it. :) I believe that the truck was bought for $1300.00 US, but I am not sure what 4800$ means, according to the exchange rate 1 Saudi dollar is $.27 US The cost of getting it here would likely kill the deal though. :( I suspect that they really don't have that many Datsun vehicles over there, but what they do have is cool. Z chopper
I know old thread but, any chance to find out the length of the rear doors? Quote Link to comment
wayno
I would guess somewhere around 28 1/2 inches, but that is a guess. I know old thread but, any chance to find out the length of the rear doors? Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
For reference, I put the picture into photoshop and measured the bottomed of the doors. The rear door measured at 103.01 units. The front at 135.61 units. These are not super precise partly because the picture is not super large. A ratio of the two is 1:1.3155 So the next step would be to measure the bottom of a 521 door and divide by 1.3155. That would be roughly what the rear door measures at. Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
ok how long is a 521 door? Quote Link to comment
wayno
OK, so the widest part of the door in the middle is 38.5 inches, so that would make the rear door about 29.26 inches if you calculate it from that point, while the bottom of the door is 37.75 inches, and that would make the rear door 28.69 inches calculated from that point, I did it how Laecaon said to do it to get these numbers. I was close, I used a tape measure on the photo to figure my guess out using percentages, I measured the bottoms of the doors in the photo. Why are you asking Z chopper? Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
well I have heard of a couple 521 cabs reasonably local and cheap with extra doors. Quote Link to comment
wayno
It will be a lot of work to do it right, each rear door will take 2 doors to make one good one, and the hinge areas will need to be made before completing each door. I think that it will take a minimum of 3 cabs to make one double cab, it really depends on if you want suicide doors or if you want a regular double cab like the double cab this thread is about. BTW, has anyone noticed that the box on the double cab is extended in back of the rear wheels, my U320 is also extended 6 inches from the factory in back of the rear wheels, I would suspect that this one was extended at least 6 inches. When I made my extended cabs, I needed one cab, the back half of another cab, the top of a 3rd cab, and 2 extra doors, this is all I need to do a 14 inch extension like my 521 kingcab. well I have heard of a couple 521 cabs reasonably local and cheap with extra doors. I would like to have one of these double cabs, but it is out of my budget, I have lived without a lot over the years trying to live within my means, I just cannot afford the shipping from the other side of the world, to bad they just cannot stick one on a oil tanker for me, oh well. 1 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
I think I figured out why these were never sold in the states. They're hideous. There, I found it :P Cool in theory, but the proportions are so far off that they look terrible. Quote Link to comment
