datzenmike Posted March 2, 2014 Report Share Posted March 2, 2014 Tendril is a stem or modified leaf used for climbing or supporting a climbing plant. Anything vine like in appearance with upward movement or reaching outward could be described as a tendril I suppose. Like the smoke shown. A tentacle is more animal than plant and isn't a tendril but it's reaching and grasping actions could be described as being like one. A rhizome is an underground modified root used for propagating the plant over a distance without using seeds. Like a burrowing worm it could be loosely (and incorrectly) described as being a tendril just like the picture of rising smoke. 1 Link to comment

The rest of MN is all Swedish/German, Canadia is English/French, totally different cultural mixes. I dont suppose the Montana reference was in regards to culture of origin though. 1 Link to comment
