wayno
You don't want to go there, the frames just are not made for that long of a stretch, there was a guy around here that had a stretched 1980 datsun 720(8 feet) that was used for just what your talking about, it went threw brakes like crazy, and the frame was bent in no time, and it was a tilt bed also, I actually almost bought it, but I am very happy I didn't. Use a trailer with electric brakes, but this is just my opinion. Another thing to keep in mind is that there are no axles rated for this kind of weight, except for the big nissan box vans, ect. jesusno2
I would think a one ton dana 60 or 70 could handle that. Quote Link to comment
OneFreakyMF
Sure, you could cut down a 14B or a D60 rear to handle that much weight. That's commonplace nowadays but Wayno is right. The frame would need A LOT of reinforcing, if not a complete rebuild. I'll never say that it can not be done, but it's a lot more work than one might think to be done right. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Could find an existing cab and chassis 1 ton and swap a kingcab on. Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
make it out of a titan instead... titan ramptruck ftw! 1 Quote Link to comment
520 gasser
I work for Titan truck in spokane and the problem with the frame is that it's singl wall all role back trucks have two layers. Pretty much from the cab back it has a frame that fits tight to the original frame. And is bolted or rivited together as D.O.T says you can not weld in front of the spring mounts. denmarkboy
i dont think i've ever seen a hauler like that..but i think a crewcab 620 rollback truck would be sweet. Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
It would be a shame to cut apart a crew cab. Thats hard to find as is. Quote Link to comment
