OkieRA29
I am guessing that by the plate frame, that the exhuast, while looking janky, is that way on purpose. If Toysport touched that car, it is a screamer. Joel(the owner of Toysport) was deeply involved with TRD through the 80s and 90s. He has one-off motors and such. He knows his Toyotas, case and point This is the Toyota 152E. It is the racing continuation of the 18RG series. This is basically the engine that was in the Group 5 celicas back in the 70s/80s it is a beast of a motor and something like 3 exist. Joel is good. Quote Link to comment
72240z
Thats a pretty wild guess based on a license plate frame. I would love to hear what logical reason there could be not to tuck the piping and muffler up. Seems clear there is room to do so... Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Does it matter? Quote Link to comment
mattyhacks71
Does look kinda odd, but the car is pure sex Quote Link to comment
72240z
Does it matter? Is that rhetorical? The site is called Ratsun and the thread title is car porn. I think it's safe to say none of this shit actually matters... That exhaust looks like ass none the less, and its for no good reason. Car is def hot though. Those celicas are yet another car I would get into instead of z's given the opportunity lmao I'm not really impressed with the 2nd one. Dont like the stance at all and its easy to have a nice clean bay when the cars isnt running lol. Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Is that rhetorical? 75/25 Just seemed you were taken aback and appalled over something that really makes no difference. Conforming to something thats purely aesthetic doesnt change how the car drives and such. I tried looking for additional pictures to see if the routing could be explained, but only saw the one across the Internet. I like everything about the notch-back Celicas except for the inset headlights. Front end looks horribly incomplete for me. Ruins it enough for me to never buy one... saving grace would be one of the bos-esque full front healight covers. Quote Link to comment
mattyhacks71
This would all be resolved by saying yes to straight pipe or open headers   Quote Link to comment
Tristin
This would all be resolved by saying yes to straight pipe or open headers   If youre a bitch... real men support bumper exit exhausts. I used to have a 4in diameter exhaust that came from the turbo and then exited like 8 inches away through my front bumper... the military gate guards hated it when I drove on base because they would have to stand directly in it to check my ID. 1 Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
How much for it,Ill take it. Probably way out of your price range. I think there are only like 2 or 3 of those left as far as I know. Story I got was, this cart was the original inspiration for the Z car. Simple, lightweight 2 seat and fun, fun, fun. :) Quote Link to comment

I would love to hear what logical reason there could be not to tuck the piping and muffler up. Seems clear there is room to do so... Not really, since I believe that I have seen this car in the background of some of pictures of other 1st gens at Toysport. Most likely the reason for not tucking the pipe is there is no room to do such. Since the Celicas are solid rear axle cars, when you lower them severely, like the one in the pic, you have two choices. Let the rear bang against the pipe with every bump or go below the axle. This time they chose to go below the axle. Most likely as a cost saving measure. I have this same issue with mine, the exhaust is spaced properly, but my car is so low that every time I hit a good bump, the rear contacts the pipe. I plan on going below the axle or use oval tubing to give me a few more centimeters of clearance. Quote Link to comment
