Draker
Got the door painted and hanging on the car. Still need to assemble all the bits that go in it.. and find some window channel felt. Paint came out pretty decent. Some imperfections but wtf.. looks good from 5ft. Good enough for me. That's about as far as I want most people to get to the car anyway. 3 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Not sure if anyone has tried these door handles.. I just bought a pair to see if they are worth a shit. If not I'll pony up for OEM. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Still looking for a nice set of rear door handles. 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Still looking for a nice set of rear door handles. Found a right rear. Looking for drivers side rear still. Also received the aftermarket front handles.. they are actually pretty decent. The chrome is nice, but he metal behind it is not quite as good as stock. For the price.. good deal. less than $60 for both fronts. I'll probably buy more for my 2 door. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Lots of work has happened to the car since photobucket shit the bed. Started manually downloading all my photos from photobucket today since they disabled the download album functionality. I hope someone sues the living shit out of them.. although I'm not sure there is any legal standing to do so. Anyway, I'm more than halfway through. I'm just glad I exported the 650 pics from this thread.. cause doing that manually would really suck. Hope to have updates with pictures soon! And I guess I should update all the broken images too. Ugh. 1 Quote Link to comment

Lockleaf
Yeah i manually repaired all the links in my 510 thread. I'm trying to get the gumption to start on the quad cab thread... 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
For those interested, I followed the advice posted in the ratsun & photobucket thread. I installed dtaoneclick. Then view your photobucket albums in slide show mode. Then download all pictures one by one. It takes a while, but it's not all that bad. Dtaoneclick makes it way easier. 1 Quote Link to comment

Draker
All photos have been recovered from photobucket. I'll leave them up there for those who are running the photobucket viewer plugin. Still working on a replacement host.. I think I've found a paid service that could work out nice.. but will have to do some testing with it. 1 Quote Link to comment

Draker
I've also been planning out the cooling system. Will either modify a Koyo radiator to move the outlets or have one custom made. After that, I'm looking at electric cooling fans. (Started a thread about that) I found out today my KA alternator is dead.. Will look at getting it rebuilt locally. Depends on the price.. If it's too much, I'll look for another one. Other things wrong with the KA.. Water pump was trash, and the lifters make an incredible amount of noise. I've got a few plans to try to fix those. Been in contact with someone to modify my gas tank for an in tank pump.. Lots of wheels turning.. pictures are happening. 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Ka alternator was confirmed to be a boat anchor. Shop confirmed it's not rebuildable. Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
Ka alternator was confirmed to be a boat anchor. Shop confirmed it's not rebuildable. They are all rebuild-able, its just a matter of if they can do it at a profit. I rebuilt alternators for my father all through High School. Most places want the cores so they will tell you they can get you a new one for XXX amount and need a the core on exchange for X amount less on total. 1 Quote Link to comment

I rebuilt alternators for my father all through High School. Most places want the cores so they will tell you they can get you a new one for XXX amount and need a the core on exchange for X amount less on total. The stator was toasted. I am suspect that when I originally brought it to Autozone they may have shorted it somehow. The reason is, I ran it on the car and it was fine, but not charging. So I pulled it and took it to Autozone... they tossed on the bench tester and it started smoking. Might not have been their fault, but odd sequence of events regardless. Anyway, I found another alternator locally that actually appears as if it was used as a boat anchor. It's corroded and a bit rusty. I am going to get the other alternator back today and see if can swap the parts over. I've cracked a few of these open before. As long as the parts are not riveted or soldered in, I'll swap the parts. If they are, I'll have the stop do it. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
I took the second alternator to the shop, they confirmed it was also bad but failed in a different way. Being I didn't know what parts were good and bad, I let the shop figure it out. They were able to produce a good working alternator for $40 in labor. 3 Quote Link to comment
