pumphousecustoms
 my datsun radiator blew ass yesterday, no worries call all the auto parts suppliers right? eeeek wrong! i called everywhere and the radiator is not available anywheres. i even trolled a few junk yards with no luck. but wait, after looking for something that may be compatible i come across a 74 bmw 540 and the radiator looked very similar, same width measurement but 1 1/2 inches taller. i bought it anyways and took it back to the shop and set it in dottie and was really impressed with the fit. i cut off the bmw mounting tabs and fabbed up some new ones to mount in the datsuns factory locations. fit, looks, and works, now thats custom, lmao  ..... i just dont understand why i couldnt find a factory or aftermkt repalcement? :sneaky: 1 Quote Link to comment
DeviousPsycho620
The don't make shit for them anymore. That's why NOS and used OEM parts are so much $$$$. 1 Quote Link to comment

pumphousecustoms
thats good to know, if i end up not liking the bmw one aluminum was my next choice... dottie is a 100 % show truck so i think a aluminum one would look better. i got my guys smoothing and painting it and the brackets tomorrow, so when it comes out n installed ill check out what it looks like and go from there. as for zeusimo's comment, whats the clutch gotta do with the radiator? what is it like tranny cooler lines or something? 1 Quote Link to comment
DanielC
A clutch fan. Most new radiators now come with a cooler for the automatic transmission, because the automatic transmission cooler radiator will work with a manual transmission.. 1 Quote Link to comment

Kirden
Rockauto.com still carries 620 radiators but not for the 73-74 models. the 75+ ones were larger and cooled better so those are the only ones available. They were used with the L20B, should be more than enough for an L18. However, they are also 250+, so either aluminum for good cooling, or rock auto for the stock look. Either way the price is close (been looking cause I want to replace my ghetto single core radiator) Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The core support changed between 74 and 75, so it takes a bit of work to make the later ones fit the earlier trucks.Good thing I bought 2 of the last OEM '73-74 (actually a '74 part number, but they interchange) radiators left in the US. In Nissan boxes. I've already had to use one. Since the original lasted 30 years... Kinda odd seeing a brand new OEM '74 Radiator in a beat to hell '74 620, but... 1 Quote Link to comment

datsunaholic
Every nice clean original vehicle I've ever owned has gotten wrecked. Every beater I've had hasn't. Hence, great running but beat to hell trucks. 2 Quote Link to comment
DaveyDaveDaveDave
Performance radiator, 227 and free shipping. 3 row, brass. They have some earlier 620 rads too, but 600 + $$$$ Local to the PNW. Too bad they dont have heater cores (for 620s). Quote Link to comment
qwik510
I got a 78 620 truck a while ago and it had a bad radiator. I took it to a radiator shop and they said it needed to be re-cored. $320. Yikes, that seemed like a lot. I searched online and found a replacement radiator. Brand new. Aluminum core with plastic tanks, made in China, but looks decent. I got it from Advance Auto. Their price was $140 but I had a code for 15% off and free shipping so it cost $120 delivered. I installed it yesterday. It fit just like the stock one. Here are some pics. Mounts for the shroud were a perfect fit too. Had to take the clips from the stock one. I know I could have gotten a champion or some other close fit one for a little more but I just want to keep this close to stock and not modify the truck. I drove it today for the first time, it ran good and never got hot. It took 5 days from the time I ordered it until it arrived. Overall, I am happy with it. Here's my truck. Quote Link to comment

I looked at that prior to ordering the one I got. From the eBay info, that one doesn't seem to be an exact fit. The lower neck is at an angle upward and there ore no pics showing the mounting holes to see if they even line up. If you don't mind drilling a few extra holes in your truck, and modifying or finding a new lower radiator hose, it might work fine. I didn't want to drill into the truck.. It is an unmolested, 105k miles, California Truck on the east coast. They are only original once.. 1 Quote Link to comment
