mrbigtanker
Get them in or are they in yet.. Quote Link to comment
oldskoolvws
Not sure i understand the point of these? It's two stage. Under normal driving, it should handle stock like. However, under heavy applications or load, the torsion in the tubes "lock" and the rebound becomes a lot stiffer as it is essentially shortened in half. That's how I see it now anyway. Get them in or are they in yet.. They'll go in when I rip apart the entire front end. I'm just finalizing the design on the shock situation and then should have the green light. Quote Link to comment
wayno
These torsion bars would be great for lowered vehicles. Quote Link to comment

Dime Dave
oldskoolvws, You got them installed yet? I see this upgrade being helpful with a VG30 install as well. Quote Link to comment
oldskoolvws
I'm finishing up the suspension preps. I have to hit the last kingping and verify I have all the parts.......then install for the front (nismo) and the rear leaf (belltech 720) will attempt to begin. Quote Link to comment
erichwaslike
so i was going over this again in my head and i noticed in the directions it has the gold sleeves at the front of ther truck and the way you slipped the end on from the lca you have it on the wrong side, just hoping you catch that before you put them in backwards..... Dime Dave
OK I've done some research. My 98-99 Nissan Motorsports catalog provides some data on truck torsion bars. All 521/620 torsion bars are listed under the same P/N's 99996-T4010 for their oversize 26m bar 99996-T1450 is their 2 stage bar The same part numbers are listed under the 2wd 720. The 26mm bar is also lists for 4x4 720 up to 12/82. They also provide the stock bar diameters as follows. 521 - 20.7mm 620 to 7/77 - 21.9mm 620 from 8/77 - 22.0mm 720 2wd 10/81 to 12/82 - 24.0mm 720 (all others) - 22.0mm 1 Quote Link to comment
Dime Dave
Rate increases for different bars over the stock 20.7mm 521 torsion bar (let me edit this so it might be a little clearer) 620 to 7/77 - 21.9mm, 1.26 x stock or 26% increased rate over stock 620 from 8/77 - 22.0mm, 1.28 x stock or 28% increased rate over stock 720 2wd 10/81 to 12/82 - 24.0mm, 1.81 x stock or 81% increased rate over stock 720 (all others) - 22.0mm, 1.28 x stock or 28% increased rate over stock Nissan Comp - 26.0mm, 2.5 x stock or 150% increased rate over stock I don't know if this is clearer or not, percentages always confused me in math class. 3 Quote Link to comment

I just got flamed a little for asking about the torsion situation on the 620 boards. They linked me to this. I ordered the T4010 for my '73 620. It's great to know that if they are too stiff I have cheap options at the wrecking yard that'll get me stiffer but under the 26mm size. Much appreciated info! 1 Quote Link to comment
GRpufnstuf
Talked to NissanParts.cc today and they have informed me that the M-99996-T4010 is NLA I asked Russell, the internet salesman, to look into the M-99996-T1450 bar for me. He is calling Nissan and maybe Sway-A-Way directly. I also emailed Sway A Way and asked if they could still produce parts or a kit for the T1450 (SAW part/kit 1440 i think?) Waiting for replies from both with my fingers crossed. If I get negatives on both of those I guess I'm going to start my search for 2WD 720s built from Oct '81 to Dec '82 and grab their 24mm bars. They will be a vast improvement over my 620s wimpy 21.9 bars at least. I get to the bump stop much too quickly for comfort right now. I actually have doubts about the HD bars being great for lowered trucks. I'd probably need to set it up so that the adjusters were already locked out or close to it to get what I'm looking for. 1 Quote Link to comment

metalmonkey47
Bumping this thread because I am currently looking at the NISMO inventory sheet (work) and came across this number on a browse. NISMO shows the 99996-T1450 620 torsion bar set is still in stock, but most likely out of production. They appear to have a few sets on the shelf. If anyone reading this is interested, PM me for pricing. I won't post that publicly. They have a few more NISMO HD Torsion Bar PN's listed that I'm going through today for more fitment or information. 1 Quote Link to comment
