easiest, least messy, most efficient way to pack wheel bearings???

I love the ease of a bearing packing bowl but damn those things waste a lot of grease.

 

hand packing is more efficient but then ya wind up with grease all over your hands.

 

after I got done I thought about using a grease needle.

 

anyone got a method they like?

Put hands inside plastic bags and hand pack it. I have a bearing grease tool but don't like to use it.

^^I have a sandwich bag thats filled with grease. I toss the bearing in it and roll in around to pack it. Works everytime, AND it's reusable.

I use nitrile gloves. But next time I will try the Baggie trick

Still get your hands dirty, but I've seen guys put a glob of it in the their palm then tamp down on the grease with the bearing

I have used that tool a lot. Grover is right for sure!

Either that one, or the two cones that screw together that fit on the end of a grease gun. I use the latter. Works wonderfully. And as much as I don't like wasting things, a tube of grease is 5 bucks at the most, and you'll still get 50 bearings packed out of it. Oh, and shameless plug, we sell both those varieties at NAPA, just sayin' ;)

Do this... wear gloves and your hands shouldn't get dirty.
