Komeuppance
Sorry for quoting the pics ... but I like em it's the point of showing them ..... If you ever get around to doing this kind of thing again .... the photography .... I know I'm not the only one who would enjoy seeing some more of it  The starlight cuts through the night air, glowing upon the dark asphalt. Only the sound of the mist softly gliding over the undulating road can be heard. A machine approaches with immeasurable speed. A black force moving so quickly, glints of starlight flare off the widebody, streaking like shooting stars across the horizon. It moves with an unseen purpose, clawing into the tiny crevices that make up the asphalt, to propel itself forward, onward, relentlessly. The unyielding movement reveals it's identity is more than a machine, but one that is alive. A living energy, escaping the void to live. A being whose soul howls with a determined roar, echoing through the paths of eternity, only momentarily pausing, as if to take a breath before devouring the air and road before it, then releasing the spoils behind in a fireball, shattering the night's serenity. The machine reaches for the coming corner, like a hand thrust outward ready to grasp the next rung, clutching at the precise moment, effortlessly balancing the momentum of time to bend both light and space. In this instant of existence flashes the gravity of destiny, for here and now is it's sole motive. This tangent is where the machine truly lives, out running starlight. -Robert 5 Quote Link to comment

Komeuppance
Lol, like many of the Datsun guys, I have a good collection of Mitsubishis, and no more room. I'd get a 280zx Turbo, of course, black and slammed. The first Starion I bought was from a guy with a Z31 and a 510, he was moving and would have taken the Starion with him instead of the 510... but the Starion was blown up.As far as pictures, everytime I try to hit up my Datsun friends they seem to flake out on doing a shoot... datsun people...!! -Robert 2 Quote Link to comment

Maybe... the datsun friends are on the side of the road broken down .... changing out spare parts.. on the way to the shoot.. ???.. lol At one time I did carry about 80lbs of spare parts with me + tools ... just so I feel like I could "get back home" from 2hrs away from home lololol The starlight cuts through the night air, glowing upon the dark asphalt. Komeuppance
Copy and pasted for your viewing pleasure: EDIT: Laaaame had to remove a few pics, exceeded the maximum per post. Grand Touring - Five Events, Two States, One Weekend The original plan was to head up to Seattle for The Old School Reunion to meet Eric/Attack Vector, but then the awesomeness of multiple car gatherings went up exponentially. Would start off at Portland Cars and Coffee, then head out for a memorial cruise for a young enthusiast who passed away recently. The memorial cruise turned into a Gumball rally with all the horsepower and exotic cars that showed up ( don't forget to watch for some video clips). After the half days drive with the cruise, annoying regular traffic flow, the wife and I would split off from the group and head solo up to Seattle for the Old School Reunion and a few bonus meets.A bit of minor prep needed before the Starion was ready. The gland nut holding the shock insert in the strut housing had come loose, I had tack welded it before but my recent driving habits managed to need more holding power... so it took me and my mad welder a week to rip apart the strut and weld the gland nut I fried. It took a week because I was lazy lol.Gave the car a good clean up, and did some wetsanding on much needed areas. Just enough to get me by until I pull the trigger for a repaint. Found out just how thin the OEM paint is wetsanding a bird crap spot that etched the paint a bit, good job previous owners. At 2am I was putting the first ever coat of wax I've ever put on this car, every year I say I won't put wax on because I'm going to repaint it, and every year I just end up driving it so much there's no time for paint LOL.Early in the AM I packed my clothes, and tools (if you wait until the last minute it only takes a minute to get done). Then loaded up the trunk and we were off to the first stop: PDX C&C.DSC06760 by twinturbobmw, on FlickrTyler Um's imgture shows just how packed this meet is getting to be, many awesome cars there.DSC06758 by twinturbobmw, on FlickrAlso thanks to Tyler, we got this neat shot of us rolling in.His album was shared on Jalopnik ( http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/cars-and-coffee-portland-6-7-14-1587638584/all ) and currently has OVER 4000!! views. Then it was off to meet up for the memorial drive. Many neat rides including GTR's, a Porsche GT3 RS Cup, and a super loud Carrera GT.Just pulling out onto the main roads was stopping traffic, as people slow down to take their cameras out or stare at line of 25 or so exotic cars. We eventually made it to the backroads for the start, a Nissan Leaf managed to get caught up in the group, just behind a GTR in front of me... but he didn't slow down, he was smashing around the corners trying to keep up. I was laughing so hard watching this guy, eventually he pulled over and let the rest of us pass, probably ran out of battery at that point lol.The first stop along the cruise, after some "spirited" driving. Normally my wife tells me to slow down, but this was her first time riding with me while chasing a GTR and Carrera GT at faster than sane paces. She was having more fun than me. As we left the view point, the crowd ran to the edge of the road to watch us drive off... but there wasn't anything cool about it because we were stuck behind a very slow mini van. A long line of loud cars, idling and then accelerating really slowly lol. A quick video clip of when we were following the straight piped Carrera GT for a bit. The old highway turned into the interstate, and at that point it was a high speed cruise. At one point while on the interstate, I felt was cornering hard... the long gradual turns had turned into "corners". I looked down at the speedo and realized "Oh, that's why."Stopped for lunch and then split from the group to head north, to Seattle.Gas mileage was estimated to be about 20 MPG, even after the "spirited" 200 miles of driving lol.Made it to the hotel in good time, VIP parking!! A good wind down after a long day of driving. The next morning I finally got to meet Eric/Attack Vector and see his car in person. His car definitely drew a lot of attention with the bad ass swap under the hood. No, not some mullet v8 blasphemy or ricer JZ swap... a legit 4g64 block / 4g63 head combo. Which would later put the hurt on an SL55 AMG on the freeway. You can see five Starions in this picture if you look closely. Three of them unexpectedly showed up to the show and it was cool to meet these guys as well. I walked over to where they parked and after they got out, I introduced myself by exclaiming, "Sweet Supras!!" LOL... that didn't go over too well as they just looked at each other like WTF.After the show the other Starions and I followed Eric to cool spot for a photoshoot. A guy cruising around in his SL55 AMG Merc saw us and wanted to see what was under the hood, he pulled up next to Eric and they did a quick run. I pulled up along side to get in the action too, but like I expected I was smoked easily lol.Tim/RaptorReed scaled the wall just to get in my shot. Lol... jk.With the inspiration of the Mighty Duck Man himself, we did the Flying V. Emilioooooooo!!A shot of the flanking side, 86's FTMFW... + 4g64/4g63 swapped awesomeness. I'd have a shot of the other side, but it was overexposed. The guys waiting for Eric and I to stop dinking around with our cameras. My wife was sleeping in the back of my Starion the whole time lol. Then Eric let us into Forza/Turn10 HQ to see this bad boy.And a pretty neat setup... there's no Starion seat though, or beer holder... so I definitely have the advantage there.Tim/RaptorReed's img of the outside of the building, you wouldn't know what goes on here by the looks of the outside. And a parting shot, moments before the good bye burnouts lol. Then we were southbound and down, back to Portland.Made it back into Portland in exceptional time, and got to watch the beautiful sunset as we were pulling in.Decided to roll through the Red Door Meet to make it a good five different car events lol, got to meet Shayne/Ofpdsm in person finally and he got this shot of us rolling in.Photo by Erik Renick, showing just a glimpse of how popular this weekly meet gets, this is just one block and it can go for up to 8-10 blocks bumper to bumper. Apparently there were about 800 cars there that day, but we were so tired I only cruised through real slow and gangster like. The "Rainbow Bridge" is one of my favorite routes to take through downtown Portland. Amazing sunset to top off an amazing trip. Finally, a video going through a tunnel, just because. Listen to that turbo scream!!I regularly attend car events like this, but this is the first I ever took my wife to, and it was a whole bunch back to back to back to back, she loved it. After driving her car she said to me, "My car is so boring. Let's go for a ride in your Starion!!" I know she copies some of the things I do while driving, like revving on ricers and then hitting the hazard lights to signal the win... I just hope she doesn't copy my responsibly irresponsible driving lol.-Robert 2 Quote Link to comment
Syncro
I wouldn't call a jz swap a ricer swap, not my style either though. I love my boosted Mitsubishi 4cylinders. Jz or rb swaps aren't worth the added weight and cost in my opinion, but that's just me. Still love your car, and starions in general, that 4g64/4g63 hybrid is awesome. Nice story. Komeuppance
Fanboy, lemming, and ricer can be used interchangeably. 99% of those who swap that bs into a Starion don't run a front sway bar or care to because their goal is brag racing. (Snore) They'll talk trash about a solid engine, that made it 100k before they got it lol, never seeing their own faults and acting like their swap is impervious to the same noob mistakes that will kill any motor, JDM tyte or pushrod bulletproof... yeah they're basically an embarrassment, aka ricers. If swapping is what you have to do to keep the car on the road cool, but trying to blame the car for your own shortcomings is ricer 101. Anyway, I could care less about discussion of these swaps here, maybe if you started a Supra or Camaro thread we can talk there. -Robert Quote Link to comment
