I haven't seen anyone on Ratsun post these.Sweet! I was actually going to do this later on when I pulled the engine again to build it. I didnt know if the rotating assy would clear a flat pan section like that so I skipped that route for now. I just care about getting it under the hood and back far enough. Josh, sherman and those 13people on the field just bug me. Other than that it was a good game. The 914 is sweet, super fun to drive. but im already getting a crash corse in the woes of the 914... Thanks Adam! Little by little. Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
fucking "back" button. ok round two on this post.... Almost got the oil sump done today. i just need to weld on some oil pickup hangers and shave the slosh tray a bit. Welds got a bit messy since i was having trouble getting it water tight. 2 Quote Link to comment

Cpl620
BAH, its all stepping stones man, I remember making block of plates. You have to walk before you can run...or in my case run with a limp. Quote Link to comment
willz
Reminds me when I started training for my PST's to compete for my SEAL contract. I had been a smoker for... shit... the last 10 years or so? I went from running two blocks and being dead tired and hard to breathe to: third of a mile swim doing combat side stroke (8min flat) 10minute break to change, max pushups in 2 minutes (122), 2min break, max situps in 2min, (105) 2min break, max pullups, (22) 10min break 1.5mi run (8:47) And ready for the beat down they like to call "conditioning" afterwards which is basically 140 (4 count) jumping jacks, rolling in the dirt on our sunburns on port and starboard sides, and about 50 (4 count) pushups ...man do I not miss that Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
you did buds and seals? or did you do swcc? USMC vet here. i miss it, just not all the BS in our down time. (hurry up an wait) forget that! Ill hurry up and EAS. Quote Link to comment
willz
I had fun at MEPS, doing the ASVAB and all that fun junk, C-SORT etc... I didn't do DEP so that I could take my time with my PST's to get my contract and not be obligated to do anything. Every time you submit your scores to the draft (If you make their minimums), you go up against everyone else in the country trying to get a contract, and there are fairly limited spaces every month. Got offered a contract, but before I could sign my life away my dad started having some major heart problems, so I moved back home to take care of the house and stuff. Well it ended up being worse than we thought and he had surgery about a 2 months ago. Made me re-think my decision, and I dropped the Navy. I met a rad girl, we're hopefully getting married this year, got offered a decent paying job down in Longview which is great because I'll still be close to the fam, going back to school and hopefully going to start my own firearms company soon.... depending on when my buddy gets his CNC's up and running again Quote Link to comment
willz
I got a couple of SEAL buddies, and one that's about to start first phase of BUDS here on I think Feb 12? should be class 306 or something Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
right on! Sounds like things worked out for the better. Sorry to hear about your dad. Opportunities will always be there, but family comes first. I trained with a few guys getting ready to hit buds when i first got out. One just actually left a few weeks ago. I usually hung out and trained with SWCC guys when i was in in my off time, a good bunch of guys. I dont know too many seals other then the two i trained with who just went in. Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
Not much done today, went out and got some paint for the frame and junk. Looking for some place around here to get Phosphoric Acid. Spent a lot of time cleaning off all the engine shit i cut up on and re-assembling it all. I got a good amount of parts on order to finish up all the suspension and get it looking new. Rolled the frame back under the port so i can start to unbolt and paint. The hats really about it. Cleaning and organizing since shit is everywhere. I still need to tack and weld up these engine mounts still, i have it all cut out, its just sitting there. ill try to be productive tomorrow... Full frame shot since i dont have a good one up yet. the front is not done. It will be completed when i put the cab back on. i want it on so i can get the exact lengths i need for the rest of the structure, but for now its "rolling" 4 Quote Link to comment

Cpl620
Biggest. pain. in. the. ass. i really dont care if i have to adjust the suspension geometry later on when i go solid bushings....it will be plenty easier than this... Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
So its a 77- or 78 if i remember. the guy is looking to sell it. he got it like this from his brother and im tempted to pick it up. Though, since it probably wont pass smog and its post smog exempt in cali im not so sure. whats a fair price for a 280 like this? 2 Quote Link to comment
Ben280
Dang that thing is sweet looking! Depending on the engine and interior, (and the paint being as clean as it looks, photos are never good to go off of) I would say $3500-$4500. I forgot how gross those bumpers are though! Why won't it pass smog? I thought those things in good shape were pretty on point for that. Unless its a Federal spec car then you should just give it to me! Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
Well I just assumed from the age it wouldent pass smog. Getting more info on it though, its a pretty low mile L28, passes smog no problem, and is daily drive. Still up in the air. If I can sell some of my old car parts I may pick it up. He only wants $2800 Quote Link to comment
Ben280
Dang, that is a deal IMO! I would def pick it up as close to NOW as possible! Lots of potential in that car it looks. Quote Link to comment
Jester
Lines are getting smoother... i still blow at welding, haha. Their not bad, just make your circles a little closer together, pause a little at the top and take your time. I'm loving this build man. Keep up the great work. Speaking of which, get your ass back to work! Haha 1 Quote Link to comment

Cpl620
Thanks for the tips. Im in parts hunting mode at the moment. Nothing but long nights of scouring for deals online. And fixing my daily. I should have everything to finish this thing in a month or two. Then it will be non stop progress for a bit. Quote Link to comment
Jester
As to the Z, find out if it is definitely a '78 and if the paint code is 638. If so, it is a black pearl edition. Look it up! Good buy. Quote Link to comment
