Yes they're Parts Shop Max z32 coilovers. The fronts are MUCH shorter than s13 coilovers, which is how I got the front so low without getting shorter springs or drooping them. Since they have aluminum lower mounts, I had a local machine shop machine steel lower mounts to weld onto the spindles.

They ride awesome, but I'm thinking about getting either PSM's super light linear springs or Swift linears. The standard 10/12k springs I got with the coils are a little aggressive for how little the car weighs. I took it on a little 300mile road trip the other day after i got it aligned and it made the trip fine.

Coils are on.

so how did you mount the pillowball tops? it looks like you just had a steel plate made in the right shape and drilled holes; do you have camber adjustment up top, or just on your lcr's in the rear?

iv always been curious as to how much it actually costs to have the spindles made, these are the exact coils iv been planning on running on mine, im just afraid to ask how much the machine work cost's hahaha

I'm loving the look of this s30. Also, I like the fact that you weren't satisfied with the way it sat and made those coilovers work. I eventually want to run some adjustable coilovers on mine... Any recommendations? I would be completely fine with doing some strut tower fabrication if it means getting the right coils.

Awesome build!

For the rear I actually had my machinist use one of the Techno Toy Tuning camber plates as a template to cut out a new strut tower top, but with just the three holes to bolt up the z32 coilover.

As for reccomendations, don't get anything with 10/12k springs haha

Well not a whole lot has changed. It got impounded for expired tag and modified exhaust a few weeks ago, went through hell getting it out but everything's good now.

I actually just bought a truck to daily, so I'm going to park the s30 in my dad's shop for the summer while I focus on finishing up the drift car.

However I have a fresh l28 to drop in, it needs a new axle and the rear calipers need a rebuild. Idk if I should do all that before I park it for the summer or after.

First off, pillowball tophats in the front are a MUST with the way this suspension is setup. You can get away without them in the rear but if you plan on going low it's better to have them. You can adapt the t3 camber plates to run them on the dc2 coils, but the shock piston is so small that you have to have the EXACT right size spacer machined. I thought I could get away without running them and broke two coilovers.

Second, they're just not strong. They're not a high quality product, and while they're adequate on the platform they're designed for, they weren't made for an s30. The shock tube and piston are tiny, and even before breaking two pistons, I had my doubts about them being strong enough to handle even daily abuse. I highly recommend going with PSM or Stance simply because of the strength and beefiness of the units.

Also, all four of my DC2 units blew the seals and leaked shock oil within 6 months of daily driving. This is partly due to the quality of the product and partly due to them not being designed for this platform.

In short, I would never put Function &Form DC2 coils on anything but a DC2, and with my current Parts Shop Max setup, I wouldn't hesitate to drive across the country if I wanted to.

I understand if money is an issue, but that shouldn't be the deciding factor. I had about $600 in the DC2 setup, and you see how long that lasted me. My Parts Shop Max setup has about $2,200 invested into the coils, custom machined sleeves, custom machined strut tower tops, Techno Toy Tuning camber plates, and welding.

It's well worth it to spend the money and do it right, or else don't do it at all.

Sounds like a stay away deal to me. I have had the same problems with mine aswell. I broke two pistons and blew four seals, then when replacing the two broken ones, the "new" ones i bought seized from just being parked less than 500 miles. Im going to make. "Stay away from dc2 coilovers thread probably" and if you have pictures of the damage maybe you can contribute. Yeah my friends has them on their integras and there fine ofcourse. Sucks we kinda dove on it assuming it worked but we live n learn. Im done with FNFs so I just put s13 upgarage coils on mine :) (fixed)

So, long story short, my rx7 and my bike need a lot of work so I put the s30 on hiatus mode until I get them done. The s30 needed a new motor/rebuild, body work, paint, interior work, and new frame rails and floor pans, so I hauled it to my dad's shop to sit and rest until I finish the 1jz swap in the rx7.

Here's the rx7 btw:

Also, here's my buddy's s30 that I'm building. It's a '78 as well, it's getting a 5.3 LM7, Ground Control/KYB coils, Toyo R888's refreshed interior, etc.

And I went to my dads and saw the s30 the other day. Started her up and did a burnout, broke a lifter mid-burnout so I parked it again and took pictures of it with my girlfriend
