]2eDeYe
All fixed up again. Borrowed the 5-speed out of Red, collecting a couple more 5-speeds now. 🙂 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I didn't realize you had a D20 case in there. Cool. The lack of thrash metal music makes your video much more fun to watch. I don't understand the need to listen to music while watching a video. I'd rather hear the engine and other natural sounds. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I have a history with Dana 20's due to being into Jeeps. This one has a 3:15 low range gearset in it and a 32 spline output. Glad the music isn't too bad. My acoustic is a lot easier to record, doesn't need any drums or anything. I try to just keep the music over the time lapse stuff. I too prefer engine noises. I almost never listen to music when driving unless it is long distance. 1 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
and then there's me who always has music going but i got past the need to have it so loud i can't hear anything else and with certain cars i'll turn it down just to hear the motor 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
My crawler has never had any kind of stereo, ever. When I'm on the trail, I like to be present. My '77 Cherokee, on the other hand, has become a daily driver, and I desperately need musinc in there. 1 Quote Link to comment

hobospyder
that being said i just looked at their website, commuter 2 is normally 242, i just bought 4 for 360 because of a discount code that was automatically added. so if you want to get one now would be the time, just don't worry about the color Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
Knocked a few things off my to do list. Biggest item was sending the original seat cover from the 521 to Issaranawat TreeAusawa for reproduction. Driving my G was nice, love that car. Quote Link to comment

It has been over to the other side a couple times. Hoping to make more trips further away. 11 hours ago, hobospyder said: Shit if he does anything with the s10 it'll surprise all of us And he does wheel on the good side of the state Especially considering it's not mine, it's yours lol... ]2eDeYe
Upgraded the alternator to a Nissan Quest 250 Amp unit. I also tracked down the original short that caused my unplanned visit to uptown Seattle. 2 Quote Link to comment

Stoffregen Motorsports
Careful with the hot lead from the alternator. I use 4ga battery cable on my alternators now. Yes, it's huge, but required for the amps. I also install circuit breakers (not fusible links). Like this one here. They do come in many different configurations though, with or without the trip switch, different size terminals, etc. Most common brand is Blue Sea. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I have a 100amp breaker like that for power to the truck harness. I will upgrade my main power wire from the alternator to a heavier gauge. Thanks for the tip. 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Good, but you need to consider what if the alternator dead shorts. It will smoke the wire. The circuit break protects the charge wire. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I will add one to the alternator circuit 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
Nice job! Great video and fab work. I have the same kae swap in my 720. One caveat which will not affect you unless you try to run a large invertor or winch with your set up. I deal with marine diesels with large alternators and a single v belt pulley is only good up to 120 amps. I see you took the serpentine pully off. You will be fine with what you are doing. Other folks following this if you plan to do this don't expect 240 amps. Nothing wrong with running a high rated alt if sticking below 120. It doesn't know the difference. 2 Quote Link to comment

Winch is definitely used on this truck. I do plan to get some dual cam serpentine pulleys for this, it'll do until then. Need to get some work done on Red first. 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment
