NWOleman
Has anyone put the front suspension off like a markII jetta 95' on a datsun 510? just wondering? Quote Link to comment
yello620
WHY would you even consider that? They have nothing in common, FWD vs. RWD pretty much changes the design of everything. Maybe the coilover sleeve kit would fit the dime. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
They have in common that they both use 2" struts. So some have used the strut cartridge inserts (shock absorbers) in Datsun struts. Quote Link to comment
NWOleman
Well i might just have a front suspensin off a jetta and it handle damn good. Was jst brainstorming, tossing ideas around. Quote Link to comment
NWOleman
Quite few things in common seems to me. Strut, a lower a arm, and disc brakes. Better disc brakes, better strut and a arm tho i bet. Just leave off the drive shaft. Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
And then? How is the A arm going to help you? How do the disk brakes help you? If it magically had the same geometry you needed you still couldnt put a fwd hub/wb/spindle on a rwd car Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
Well, I suppose you could bolt the half-shaft ends into the hubs, then you might be able to run them without destroying the bearings, but that would be a massive amount of rotating, unsprung weight Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, the design is similar, in fact most cars use a McPherson strut suspension, especially FWD cars. But the parts themselves are not similar. For example 510 does not use an A-arm, but instead a lower plain arm (tranverse link) with triangulation provided by the Tension Rod (caster bar). Rjawm
Haven't posted in awhile, so I don't mean to start anything... But a 95 Jetta would be a Mk III not Mk II 2 Quote Link to comment
crackerjack69
Go for it man! Be sure to mount the seat on the roof, and wire in an x-box controller to fly-by-wire! Be aware that engineering a custom suspension requires a certain amount of "engineering expertise": and some serious $. 2 Quote Link to comment

HRH
Yes, Volvo is fine, that's Swedish. That's why I have a Ford Fuckus radiator in my 510. Couldn't have the VW radiator in there. Just couldn't do it. :D Quote Link to comment
