Lifted2wdatsun
so im new here. I just picked up my old datsun 521 from a guy in shoreline. Now the biggest question i have is, is there anyway you drop a sr20det motor under the hood. If possible what do i have to do to put it in? Quote Link to comment

Lifted2wdatsun
I'm not lookin for a freakin' tacoma style mini truck drifter, i just want a daily drivable truck with some power to pull an I-90 pass during the summer to see my brother a college Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
please dont put an SR in it. it looks to nice to mod like that. now my 620 is a different story. its a rust bucket. so it eventually gettin a single cam KA when i can find the harness and whatnot to put it in. fiveNdime
Do you run with the 240sx guys??? Put a KA in it, single or dual scam. Much cheaper swap and you will have MORE then enought umph to push that truck for a daily driver. Quote Link to comment
Lifted2wdatsun
no i dont run wit em. ka huh. ok what price would we be talkin about so i can have this truck ready for canby!!! :) P.S. not a big 240sx fan, i just like the motor!:D Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
there are people on here that have done the swap, im in the process of doing an rb20 skyline swap in my 240 cause the block blew a head gsket, so i will be swapping the single cam ka into it as well..... Quote Link to comment
fiveNdime
ask nismopu he did a single cam in his 620. he doesnt have the truck anymore but he could help you with questions. He did it cheap too. ask him about the price too. Quote Link to comment
shane_lxi
Go with a ka24e for sure. You can find runners for like $200 with tranny's. Harnesses are kind of tough because tards cut them up when they do their swaps, but you can find them (I have a few, dont ask, I need them all!!). Plenty of getup and go for such a small truck :D. I just like ka's, not a big fan of overpriced and overrated jdm motors personally. ps: What's wrong with 240's?! Good motor, sexy chassis? What's not to love?! Quote Link to comment
Farmer
Here some one that put a Ca18det in a 620 Specs: ca18det with sc14 toyota supercharger, greddy front mount and racepro blaster blow off valve. Larry Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
was that one right hand drive? brake master was on pass side..... Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
think a SR20 would clear the torsion bars????????? Ask Jeff Hino and frank. Maybe they can do it for you for about 5-6 K$ Thats what it costs to do a SR. and thats on a budget Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
There are 2 521's with SR's in the project forum ;) Quote Link to comment
Bleach
the turbo is near or hits the solid steering shaft on a left-hand drive truck. The RHD 620 shown has fewer issues. As long as you don't think its a bolt-in process (you can weld) and you realize it won't go in for just the cost of the motor then you can do it. A turbo engine might require a top mount manifold that brings the turbo up near the hood. Any non-turbo engine would have far fewer install issues. CA18DE or KA24DE Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
The KA swap is more affordable & Icehouse did a writeup on his swap/install in the "how to" section. Farmer that green 620 sounds really good , deff. was a RHD + it had wing windows. Quote Link to comment
