datzenmike
There's a Dodge door hinge bushing replacement kit that will work better than the original ones. They look something like these: http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/datzenmike/DSC01168.jpg[/img]"] I must have got the wrong no. because they didn't fit: http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/datzenmike/DSC01195.jpg[/img]"] So I used a dremel with a cutting disc and removed a small chunk and got them to work: http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/datzenmike/Copyoftransshifterbushing.jpg[/img]"] Maybe someone will see this and can give the right number. They look something like these: http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/datzenmike/DSC01168.jpg[/img]"] The inner diameter should be 9mm or 0.353", cant get the new bushing out to measure but it would have to fit the hole in the shifter. The kit I got was for the Dodge/Van/Truck '84-'91 upper/lower door hinge bushing kit HELP # 238388 But they were too big diameter so I trimmed to fit. Someone on here gave a different kit # and the dimensions matched my altered ones. zerow
The little plastic sleeves/bushings that slip into the bottom of the shifter that keeps it tite. What the fuck are they called and where can you get some?? From the man who cannot have a 4/5 speed in his 610, try this guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/DATSUN-NISSAN-240Z-280Z-280ZX-BRASS-SHIFTER-BUSHINGS_W0QQitemZ220220408523QQihZ012QQcategoryZ33736QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem I got the bump steer spacers from him, and the product was top notch. I've directed a few other people his way. I know the price is a bit much, but it beats having to explain yourself to some snot nosed kid at the dealership parts counter. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=32849-H1010 or Chrysler Door Hinge kit 38377 under HELP brand sold thru Schucks rememebr the earlier trucks and all the 510/521s will the 4 speeds use a diffenernt linkage system. Mostly the Ears on the end waer and spread out. You can shim it with washers or pull the pin out(E clip) and put a grade 8 bolt and sqeeze it together and it will take some slop out. Thats about it. Just the way it is. Quote Link to comment

Just the way it is. Hainz (or anyone) just so I am clear, the HELP kit listed above won't work for a stock 71 521 4 speed? Nissan shifter bushings also will not fix it. And a grade 8 bolt is the way to go? (My memory tells me it is the ears that are sloppy on my shifter. So I am guessing this can't be fixed with bushings.) Additionally, I can't get the shift knob off of the shifter. (putting on a new boot) I am about to resort to visegrips! Sounds like an excuse to get or make a custom shiftknob! Quote Link to comment
