Laecaon
I had white smoke out the carb when my ignition condensor was going out. Car would refuse to idle/run for more than 5 secs. Quote Link to comment
69FJWagon
almost sounds like your 180 out... I did the same on Lisas 521 and switched 1 and 4 on the cap and it fired right up Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
Maybe disable the coil so there no spark to the engine, turn it over, and see if it still shoots white smoke? I had this problem once.... Can't remember for the life of me what caused it Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
match sure dizzy is pointing at #1 plug at TDC 13 4 2 countr clock wise fire order make sure the valave lash has gap it will start. izzo
Well it was starting to run. Then all of a sudden it did this. Now the motor just spins freely like there is no compression. I put my compression tester on #2 cylinder and got a reading of 0. Even when i had a burnt valve it had some kind of reading. I spun the dizzy 180 around and set the plugs wires again, still notta. motor just spins around real fast. i double checked your video hainz and olddatsuns tech to make sure i had memorized the firing order correctly. i made sure that piston was TDC and 0 on the mark, and cams were 10 and 2... bright links matched dimples. izzo
im burned out.. i spent a day and a half on it. ill tinker a tiny bit with it, but im not going to spend much more time on it... ill just find another ready to go motor and toss it in. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Maybe an obvious question.... But is the valvetrain even moving when you crank it? Quote Link to comment
izzo
It was, as it was starting to run. then it stopped. Its to late, and im to burned out to go pull the valve cover again and spin it to see. ill try and get to that tomorrow night. Quote Link to comment

metalmonkey47
Damn man. That is absolutely shitty. Sounds like something has mechanically broken. Hope you can figure it out! Did the chain jump ship maybe? Edited July 24, 2011 by metalmonkey47 Quote Link to comment
izzo
Ill know more tomorrow. Ill pull the valve cover off and spin the crank pulley around.. see what happens. First time i really had problems when throwing together an L series. I had a little bit of issues with my Z24, but it was that i missed a ground wire, one vacuum line, and i had it 180 out... But thats a napz :D Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
I forgot to torque the cambolt on my built l18. Got a block a way from my house and it just died. Then when I got it home I had no comp and had a bent a valve and the chain tensioner had popped out so I had to fix that. But once I fixed those two things it fired right up . If you bent a vlave and the guid is good just grab some lapping. Compound and the suction cup tool and another valve and lap it . Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
ck the valve lash!!!!!!if too tight no COMPRESSION!!!!!!!!! Simple motor . This is a test of your manhood! Quote Link to comment
