Laura11
My boyfriend gave me this truck to bring it back to life, with alot of his help!! It it a '78 kingcab with a shortbox, L20B engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. When he first got it in 2003 he put a L16 4-speed trans in it, when still in highschool, drove it till it blew up and even after, then he put this L20B 4-speed trans in it around 2005. This is with the L20B in it, when it still had the bubble windows and white fender flares. Then it got a splash of black and got a roll bar added, This truck also used to haul his camper in and out forestry roads, Now it has 3 inch lowering blocks in it, It also has 14' slot rims on it, Here is the engine bay before i started to clean it, This is the passenger side engine bay that i have started to clean up, Here is the grill we took off and the cowl that is going back on the truck, The new grill in place, New (to me) vailance, notice the ever so dented roof, the truck bed, its not even that rotten, This is the inside on the cab before the seats came out and before i started to use the wire brush and vacuume in it, This is after a little time with a wire brush and the vacuume, trying to get the loose rust out of the cab, This shows the little bit of rust holes that there are in the floor pans, Thats all for one days work, i hope to wire wheel the inside of the cab and finish cleaning the engine bay early this week. 2 Quote Link to comment

Laura11
the truck has been sitting for some time now, and sat all last winter with a camper on it, the poor thing. i plan to re do the rockers and it is getting a new (to me, less rusty) drivers side fender, in time i will be striping the paint down to the orange factory paint that seems flawless from what i can see, the guy that had it before us didnt prep the factory paint before painting it red oxide primer sp it is flaking off. i have alot of work ahead of me and my goal is to get it looking like a beauty by next june, for the All Japenese car show in Victoria, if its ready before then, thats just a bonus. thanks for all the support guys! 3 Quote Link to comment

Laura11
So i got some more work done to the poor thing, looks like it needs a new passenger side floor pan, might just get one formed depending on the cost, here is some more pictures of my project and I. This is after i took a wire wheel to it. passenger side seat mount, Passenger rear floor, not in bad shape at all i was surprised, Passenger side floor pan, Passenger side beside the door sil, Me with my dust mask on, only after maybe an hour of wire wheeling. After I took the dust mask off, Yuck! Also finished cleaning what i could of the engine bay, Here are some pictures I took of my boyfriends truck and mine together. I also took off some brakets from the engine bay sand blasted them and painted them black. So thats all for now, i plan to have the inside of the cab wire wheeled by the end of the week (stupid work getting in the way!!) and then clean and paint up some more of the brakets, mayeb even start sanding the paint down and getting it preped? who knows, hopefully the boyfriends gets as motivated as i am and helps weld in the patches to the floor pan. 1 Quote Link to comment

Laura11
So i haven't been able to work on it much lately, but i did pick up some new parts, I have these new head lights and i was wondering if anyone had any pointers on how to install them? i also painted the horns, and some brackets from under the hood, got a less rusty drivers side fender for it, there is hardly any rust to this one, Also got som pictures from my boyfriends new engine for his orange truck (pumpkin), 1 Quote Link to comment

There are a few people who have done the BMW projectors, you might search them out. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/27825-modded-projectors/page__p__410851__hl__%2B620+%2Bbmw__fromsearch__1?do=findComment&comment=410851 http://community.ratsun.net/topic/32726-yet-another-bmw-ellipsoid-intall/page__p__494642__hl__%2Bbmw+%2B510__fromsearch__1?do=findComment&comment=494642 Look for the 510 write-up, I think there might be another somewhere. Laura11
yeah, we did. My boyfriend sold him one of his first project sets and from there he got hooked, lol so when he got all the trucks from a farmers field he called grahem and said come take a look, so thats where the new gate came from and the box for my boyfriends truck, along with someother things, all the trucks are past repair they have been in that field for longer than i have been alive the postman that owned them we were told was crazy lol from alot of people so we never tried, but always checked up on them to make sure they were still there. its a shame because even 5 years ago those trucks would have been a gold mine. Does anyone know how to mount those headlights in my previous post i am not sure how 1 Quote Link to comment
chopderek
Would you still have the flairs and Bubble windows? 1 Quote Link to comment
Laura11
yeah i think the fender flairs and bubble windows are still kicking around somewhere in the shop 1 Quote Link to comment
Laura11
So i finished wire wheeling the inside of the cab, so here is the drivers side, here is under the petals, it has been cleaned up once and sealed up, but now the cab mount has rotted out so it needs to be re done. My new ish tale gate, the guy we got it from started to fix it up and found all the bondo and got discuraged, but already welded a patch where the rust was, so all i have to do is strip all the bondo off and bash some dents out, we'll see how it goes. Here is where the patch is welded, It is replacing my rusted out gate, 1 Quote Link to comment
Laura11
i started to strip the new gate of all its bondo, here is the patch that someone else welded in, because there was a hole stabbed in it, here are some of teh dents that the bondo was covering, but not covering very well. hopefully over the long weekend i can get the rest of the paint off it, bash some of the dents out, give it a skim of bondo, and maybe even get it painted.
