Ken_B
Just got this truck for $100, yes thats right $100. Its got a pretty fresh 390 with headers and true dual exhaust, sounds wonderful. Auto trans sticks in 1st and has to be manually shifted out once the truck is warmed up, but otherwise goes down the road and runs great. Put a $25 junkyard battery and some gas and with a little effort she started up after sitting about a year, drove it a couple miles down the road to a gas station and filled it up. got about another 1/4 mile and she stated to sputter and died, luckily managed to coast into a parking lot, truck cranked and was getting fuel, no spark. ran to the parts store got a new coil for $25, problem solved!! Drove it the rest of the 35 miles home without a hitch. Shes got overloads and trailor wiring, probably gonna give her some tlc and a trans, and turn it into a towin/haulin rig. Heres a pic of the 1st time I saw it, I will be spending the afternoon cleaning it up and get some better pictures up. Quote Link to comment
Jayden71
 Filled it up huh. What that set you back, bout $100?? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
It doesn't need a new transmission. Just drain a quart and replace with a quart of Trans-X. That'll fix it. Good deal for $100 Quote Link to comment
DRIVEN
Nice score. Looks thirsty. Quote Link to comment
Ken_B
Cleaned up pretty good, but boy does she need a carb! Thanks for the advice on the trans. I will definatly do that! Only filled the cab tank to the tune of $45 :( Quote Link to comment
tdaaj
real nice score for $100. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
i see why you say it needs a carb who thought it was a good idea to put a 2 bbl on a big block? Quote Link to comment
DanielC
The 390 was not available with a 4 barrel carb until 1975, in a truck. Before you put any oil supplements in the transmission, drain it, and refill it, with the proper fluid. There is a plug on the torque converter, so it can be drained also. Pull the pan off the transmission, and clean it, and change the transmission oil filter. The Carburettor on these trucks is super easy to rebuild. It probably has only has about 1/4 the number of parts used in a Datsun two barrel carb. Here is a few Ford sites. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php http://www.fordification.com/ Quote Link to comment
Stfwells
Freaking sweet find! The body looks virtually rust free! The Carburettor on these trucks is super easy to rebuild. It probably has only has about 1/4 the number of parts used in a Datsun two barrel carb. You could totally rebuild that thing in minutes, for a handful of pennies! Quote Link to comment
Bleach
I sold a lawn mower on Sunday for $100 ;) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The 390 was not available with a 4 barrel carb until 1975, in a truck. Will give better mileage too. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
This is another great debate. Theoretically, a four barrel will give better mileage, if you do not open the secondaries. That brand new ignition coil looks really funny in the engine bay. Quote Link to comment
