Lonestar
Hello everyone, So i had been looking around the CL for awhile before I came across my 210. I had been thinking about a 240sx for a good daily driver so I could stop using my truck so much but I wanted an older import car like a 1973 celica or corolla. When I saw the picture on the ad, I knew I had found my car. The first thing that impressed me right off was just how clean this car was for it's age and type. I mean really, how many 210's (any year) do you find like this? She's still not perfect and has a few things to be fixed (or upgraded! ;)) and I plan on hanging on to her for as long as I can. Tech specs, she a two door with the A14 65hp with 5 speed stick with (still working) factory A/C. Is that rare for this car to have? Anyways, after changing out the rims and tires, I drove her home. She runs great, not enough HP for my taste but I can fix that! Cleaning up this engine bay is one of my top 5 to do list. A few of the minor things that need to be fixed. Missing that gas door latch, Thanks to Ramman72, I got the piece to fill the hole. Thanks again man! Can't see it well but this bumper end piece is dented in...dunno if I can find this piece anymore or if I can pop it back out at least? Got to repaint all the side markers, no big, better pic of the bumper end cap. This thingie right here....I doubt I'll ever find this one so I may wind up going to a local shop and seeing if I can have some billet ones made! OH GOD IT BURNS!!! Fugly seats are fugly!!! This is my first thing to do, get all these nasty seats redone into very sexy! I'll get the pic's up when I can, thanks guys. I'm out! 1 Quote Link to comment
Pumpkn210
Very nice car mang! That thing has a TON of potential. And I never saw one with AC before. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Nice clean for a 30 year old car. The 5-speed and A/c are not rare, I've seen many, many like that. Quote Link to comment
moldyoldy
Looks really good!! I was thinking about making those brackets too. Quote Link to comment

Master-O-Turbonics
Awesome car man! I like the 210! Its like a lightweight 510! Quote Link to comment
Lonestar
Thanks guys for the warm welcomes. Well, started to clean up the inside and took the seats out. A little dusty but no rust, woot! Guh....these seats are so nasty looking...glad I'm getting them redone So goodbye old and ugly.... ....Hello new and sexy! I really love what the trim shop did. I got them back in and look so HOT! :hyper: That looks so much better! Now with that done, I need to replace the carpet and fix the radio but engine needs come first, so it off to fix my valve cover and radiator. Quote Link to comment
Lonestar
Next off, it's time for me to clean up the engine bay and fix a few minor issues under the hood. This car has sat for most of it's life and we all know what that will do to engine seals. Yeah, need less to say, it's a few leaks but nothing big. I got her into the shop this week and lifted her up to get a view of the under side. Here's some underside pic's. Got a little rust on the frame rails but nothing bad. Looks like my timing cover and oil pan are leaking...Argh! Also seems like I'm leaking in the rear too, does the A14 have a 1 or 2 piece rear main seal? Gunna clean up and respray the underside. Got to looking and found where my radiator is leaking. Right then, time to work. I started off by pulling out the radiator and I yanked off the valve cover so I clean it up while getting a new seal in it. The old cork gasket had become hard and was soaked with oil all the way through. Thankfully I got a rubber fel-pro gasket to replace it. Before Now, clean it, steam wash it, wire brush, prime and paint afterwards. Clean looking on my engine, even if it's the only shiny thing right now.... Still got much cleaning to do! I couldn't find that Nissan light blue so I just picked a blue and went with it. It's just temp til I can get most of these parts powder coated! That air clean and emissions crap is on my list when I get the money for a webber! :D Alrightie then! Now to for the radiator! This radiator has seen better days. The PO before me took off the stock fan and put on a electric fan. and did a shitty ass job of it to.... if it's one thing that pisses me off, is doing a half ass job like this. So I took the fan off and pulled out the shiny new radiator. And.....what....the....!@#$! Really, really? You gotta be kidding me.....new one is longer than my old one. Well I tried to see if it will fit....only two of my bolt holes line up and I can't use my fan shroud or my overflow bottle and that's really pissing me off. Then to add insult, I find that this is the ONLY radiator Autozone, Pepboys, or O'reillys can get for ANY b210, 210 or 310. There is no MT opt, is that what my prob here is? I got an Auto radiator for a MT car? If you guys have this happen, plz help me, now I've got no car and it's making me sad. :crying: Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
To the best of my recollection, the radiator on the right looks like it is for a 210, and the one on the left is for a B210. Maybe your car being an early production car it used the B210 radiator? I say screw the shroud, bust out the drill, and make that thing fit. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Are you saying you don't think you can find that antenna? They are actually pretty cheap and easy to find. I just bought one new two months ago for $12, and then another new one yesterday for $10. ;) And you DO NOT want to make that out of metal. It's plastic for a reason. If it was metal your radio reception could be compromised. The antenna mast itself is insulated from the body for a reason. :) This thingie right here....I doubt I'll ever find this one so I may wind up going to a local shop and seeing if I can have some billet ones made! datsunfreak
Really? Where do you find them? Every time I drive past a stereo shop I stop in and see if they have any. :P They almost always do. And they are on ebay fairly often too. Just have to keep checking back there a couple of times a week. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Yeah, tried going back to B210 and it's the same dang number....giving me no other opt's for AT or MT With a little work they will swap, so... :D The problem is that they don't offer each individual radiator this far back. They usually just produce the biggest version of it, and in auto form, so that it "fits" everything. :P Quote Link to comment

I guess if I have no other options then I'll make this one work. <_< Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
What was wrong with your original radiator that it couldn't be repaired? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
There were two different radiator for the 210, but they bolt in. And three different ones from the B210 I would just use the old radiator unless it's bad. If it had a tendency to run warm on a hot day, the larger radiator is the solution. The fan shroud will make less difference than the bigger radiator. Quote Link to comment

Been driving her for the last two days, cooling is working fine but now she's idling rough, I think I have a vac leak somewhere. I'm keeping the old one and will have it rebuilt once I get some spare funds to do so. I went ahead and fixed the gas door. I got some pic's that I'll get up tomorrow. My next thing to fix is the oil pan gasket and timing cover. Does the A14 have a one piece or two piece rear main seal? Quote Link to comment
rusty12ver
It should be a single piece r.m.s., if i can find it I will dig up the fsm for the 210. I think Kragen has pics of the rms on their website when shopping on line. Quote Link to comment
Farmer
I actually really like that 210. Larry Quote Link to comment

Lonestar
Ok, wow, been awhile since I posted here but hey, time to get with it yes? First off I wanna ask the mods if I can title to this to "The I dunno what the hell I'm gunna do with this 210" would be pretty appropriate right about now. Has you all know I've been talking a big game about an SR20DET swap and what not. Things that stopped me, time, money and the fear of cutting and welding (and the fact I have no space to do any fab work) Well, times got hard on my and I ended up selling the SR20det. No big deal, the engine is a dime a dozen, I'll try this once again when the time is right and I have everything I need in order. Then came the 1968 wagon I got from a guy named James near Houston with plans of making a nice DD driver out of. It turned out to far more project than I could handle at the time which in turn, became a good thing for DatsunFreak here on the ol Ratsun forums. We did a little texting and chatting and came to a deal. He got the wagon and I got this... A fresh built and ready to run (almost) Nap Z motor with 5spd and... yup, a H165 from a 200sx! The Trans and Rear end do some cleaning, so I plan on going through both and replacing all the seals and what not. And before anyone starts going off on me about not getting this done, I have to, I have to give Datsunfreak my running A14 engine as it was part of the deal. So, once I get my garage cleaned to where there in enough space to pull the 210 in, I'll start my tear down and go through my new swap rebuild with you all here. Til then. 2 Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
By the way there have been reports that japan is running low on SR20DETs. No more cheap ones. Quote Link to comment
