compression Posted January 12, 2011 Report Share Posted January 12, 2011 This is my friend's RX-240. He is a die-hard datsun guy, but he decided to go different on this build. Everyone knows rotary engines and what a pain in the ass they can be. So my friend found this old RX-7 and pulled out the old wankel and put in a KA24DE. Granted, it took a couple years of spare time, but it is driving now. The interior is 100% stock RX-7. He managed to keep the A/C working, working dash (speedo, tach, all temp gauges). Not to mention he converted it to rack and pinion and added power steering to it. The install is very clean. There is a freshly rebuilt GSL-SE limited slip in there and completely rebuilt suspension with coilovers and camber plates, and swaybars and poly bushings. Not only is it much faster than the rotary ever could be, it gets better gas mileage and is much smoother and quieter. The custom rear GSL-SX badge is a sticker custom made for him by Todd at Graveyard Graphics (Creepy Cruiser) The future will bring a fully built turbocharged engine sporting a new BorgWarner EFR turbocharger and custom manifold. Not turbocharged yet, just N/A for now. EFR turbo's have an 8 week lead time, so it will be a while. The turbo motor is being built and M&B Cylinder Heads here in Portland.
